Maintenance Technician (Industrial Electrician – Mechanic Millwright)
Location: Concord, ON
Term: Full-time, Permanent (Afternoon Shift)
Pay Rate: $40 per hour
Job Summary:
- Perform installation, maintenance and repair activities on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic manufacturing equipment
- Adjust machinery and repairs or replaces defective parts and components
- Dismantles and reassembles machines and carries out routine maintenance activities
- Perform trouble shooting using standard test equipment, detailed drawings, sketches, specifications, manuals, or verbal instructions
- Maintain appropriate maintenance and repair logs
- Flexible support to be available to work afternoon shift
Key Responsibilities:
1) Work safely and abide by OHSA regulations and Teknion policies and procedures pertaining to Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined Space, Hot Work, Working from Heights and other pertaining to the job environment
2) Always use correct PPE when performing activities likely to cause release of dust, fumes, gases, particles, and liquids
3) Read blueprints, diagrams and schematics drawings to determine work procedures
4) Act with a high sense of urgency to on-floor service calls and equipment breakdowns to restore safe operations quickly
- Machines include custom built PLC controlled assembly, automatic and semi-automatic machines
- Equipment includes powder paint, laser cutting, panel bender, CNC, presses, resistance welding, MIG/TIG welding and several handheld power equipment
- Power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Use equipment, materials and machinery only as authorized
5) Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, lift assist, forklifts, and reach trucks
6) Fabricate, weld, and modify equipment components using machine tools (mill, lathes, grinders) as needed
7) Operate machine tools such as lathes, mill, saw, MIG welder and grinders to fabricate parts as required
8) Execute and continuously improve the Preventative Maintenance program according to the schedule
9) Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
10) Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts as needed
11) Respond and complete Work Orders assigned by plant teams in a timely manner
12) Maintain good documentation records including daily/weekly checklists
13) Perform machinery modifications and/or process changes to support continuous improvement projects
14) Report all incidents, injuries requiring first aid, health care, lost time injuries or occupational diseases
15) Provide back up to other mechanics and locations on an as needed basis
16) Start Up machinery and equipment before the start of production shifts
17) Verify machinery and equipment is shut down properly at end of shift
18) Maintain a safe and clean maintenance area, toolbox and machinery
19) Maintain stock of commonly used spare parts
20) Responsible for achieving all maintenance quality and safety goals
21) Dispose of hazardous materials appropriately
22) All other duties as may be assigned by the Engineering and Plant Manager
Qualifications:
1) Minium 5 years of post-ticket, hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
2) Having a safety-first mindset, following all company safety procedures especially Lock Out/Tag Out and WHMIS
3) College diploma as an industrial mechanic or the equivalent in education, training and/or experience
4) Strong Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting skills, preferable Licensed Millwright(433A) or Electrician(309A/442A)
5) Ability to read drawings (electrical\mechanical\pneumatic\hydraulic)
6) Knowledge of pneumatic applications and power transmission equipment
7) Ability to assist in troubleshooting equipment issues
8) Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize while staying organized and meet deadlines
9) Ability to work at heights (training will be provided)
10) Ability to operate manual and power hand tools including levels, compressors, drills, sanders etc.
11) Ability to use measuring tools (multi meter, veneer calliper, feeler gages, and other)
12) Knowledge of various manufacturing processes: CNC machines, Welding, Paint Line, Brake Presses, Benders etc
13) Manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and positive attitude
14) Demonstrate good communication skills, works well with others and able to work with little or no supervision
15) Ability to meet physical demands (lifting/carrying, bending, twisting, pushing/pulling, gripping, reaching, climbing)
16) Must possess a complete, professional grade of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment necessary for both electrical and mechanical maintenance
