Yard Mechanic / Trailer Mechanic

Protrans Personnel Services is currently hiring a full-time Yard Mechanic for a transportation company located in Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC.

This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on mechanical experience who enjoys working on trailers, trucks, transportation equipment, refrigeration units, and general yard equipment. The ideal candidate will be reliable, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently as well as with a shop team.

Job Details

Position: Yard Mechanic / Trailer Mechanic
Location: Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC
Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour
Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

As a Yard Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing transportation equipment to support safe and efficient daily operations.

Responsibilities include:

Perform daily maintenance and repairs on trailers, trucks, and yard equipment
Complete minor mechanical repairs independently
Coordinate with the shop team for larger repairs when required
Inspect and repair trailers, trucks, and refrigeration units as needed
Assist with shop repairs and respond to road calls when required
Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate with supervisors or dispatch
Provide support over the phone for basic troubleshooting when needed
Perform weekly service vehicle inspections, including engine, oil, tires, and general condition
Complete minor repairs immediately when required
Manage inventory, parts, tools, and supplies for the mobile service unit
Assist with general building maintenance when required
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum 6 months of relevant mechanical experience required
Experience as an automotive mechanic, trailer mechanic, truck mechanic, diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or maintenance mechanic considered an asset
Mechanical certification, DEP, or related training preferred
Class 5 driver’s license preferred or in the process of obtaining
Must have own toolbox
Comfortable working with trailers, trucks, refrigeration units, and transportation equipment
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills
Bilingual English/French is an asset
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar systems
