Position Summary
We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Journeyman Structural Welder, Day Shift Shop Foreman to lead shop operations and ensure production goals are met.
In this role, you’ll oversee day-shift employees, monitor attendance, assign tasks, and provide training on tools and equipment. You’ll ensure all work meets quality and safety standards, interpret fabrication drawings, inspect finished products, and address any issues that arise to keep projects on track.
You’ll also communicate company updates to day-shift staff, provide feedback and coaching, and support management with performance reviews and disciplinary actions when needed.

Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent personal attendance record and monitor attendance of day shift employees
- Lead production demands with day shift to manage timelines for performance in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision
- Supervise shop employees to ensure that work completed meets company and a pre-determined quality standard
- Ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks and receive applicable training on tools and equipment
- Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
- Receive complaints and resolve problems as required
- Assist in communicating company information to day shift employees on behalf of management
- Contribute information in preparation of performance review contents and participate with management on delivery of
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and work with Production Manager/Shop Supervisor to carry out disciplinary actions if the need arises
- Thorough knowledge of safe operation of overhead crane, rigging practices and mobile equipment for material movement
- Interpret part and fabrication drawings for quality checks
- Accurately measure and verify material and identification as per assembly drawing requirements
- Visually inspect finished product for quality and size of weld, tagging/marking and finish
- Resolve quality problems or concerns in a timely fashion to meet project timelines

Requirements/Qualifications
- Basic computer skills
- Previous experience in a fabrication environment
- Previous welding experience within a CWB certified facility required
- Ability to identify quality issues of welds e.g. undercut, lack of fusion, porosity, cold lap and spatter
- Effective communication skills to provide necessary information in a timely and accurate manner
- Ability to act with as well as promote ethical behavior
- Ability to adjust to changing production requirements and plan accordingly
- Strong organizational skills to maintain maintenance records regarding the status of equipment, repairs and issues
- Ability to encourage employee engagement and promote production goals and timelines
- Skill and ability to foster positive working relationships with employees
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices
- Must have good communication, time management and organizational skills
- Possess problem solving skills
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs. and be on feet for long periods
