About the Role
We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to fill a vacancy and join our Conventional Laboratory Team. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor this role will be responsible for the semen production process in accordance with standard operating procedures and the Semex Gold Standard Quality Assurance Program.
What You Will Do:

Use accepted protocols to ensure that all processes required for routine semen production meet established quality and quantity guidelines

Microscopic motility, volume and photometric evaluation

Labeling, dilution, fill-sealing, racking, freezing, extender-supplies, maintenance, lab collection equipment hygiene, lab cleanliness, and liquid nitrogen dispensing

Lab database entry and maintenance of records and lab material inventories

Participate in staff meetings
What You Need to Succeed:

College Diploma or equivalent education and experience

Experience in a lab production facility preferred

Understanding of lab production, quality control, production database maintenance and recording

Ability to work in a team environment
-
Acute manual dexterity, and able to stand for long periods of time
-
Able to tolerate work in the cold room environment with temperatures ranging from 3°- 5° C for prolonged periods
-
Knowledge of the agriculture industry is an asset
-
Ability to converse with clients in English and French is an asset

Work Location & Minimum Pay Rate
This is a full time, in-person role requiring 5 days per week in our Guelph location working Monday – Friday from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. This position offers a minimum starting wage of $23.00 / hour with potential compensation enhancements based on applicable experience and qualifications.
