Full job description

Since 1945, A.J. Braun has custom-fabricated and supplied quality highway products and provided installation services for projects across Canada, from roads to bridges and railway systems across the country. From our modest beginning, supplying steel products to local residential builders, A.J. Braun Mfg. Limited has evolved to become a leading supplier of high-quality fabricated steel and in-stock steel products for building contractors across the country.

Job Summary

As a General Labourer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including assisting with material handling, quality control and general upkeep of the manufacturing process. The General Labourer is based out of the Sharon, ON plant, and will report to the Production Manager, AJ Braun Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Follow all written and verbal instructions from management and authorized personnel.
Set up components for fabrication (e.g., cutting materials using powered saws to required measurements).
Operate hand and power tools to prepare and fabricate parts.
Align and assemble components using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, rulers) and secure materials as required.
Move parts and materials safely using appropriate equipment and handling techniques.
Identify and correct errors using appropriate methods and tools.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition.
Adhere to all company Health and Safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment through general housekeeping.
Participate in required in-house and external training related to machinery, tools, and safe work practices.
Assist coworkers and support other areas of the shop as needed.
Perform additional duties outside of regular responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Valid safety certifications as required (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Arrest, First Aid, Crane Operator, Forklift Operator).
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and work instructions.
Experience using hand and power tools (e.g., saws, squares, calipers, measuring devices).
Strong understanding of safety standards and commitment to using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
High attention to detail and strong workmanship standards.
Basic math and measurement skills (with and without tools).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to safely operate equipment in a competent manner.
Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract (if required).
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
Ability to stand, bend, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
