Electrical & Software Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 2 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the primary purpose of the Research Assistant is to support ongoing research and development into Human-Robot interaction. This involves study coordination, quality control, data analysis and processing, and producing reports as part of publishing an academic article.
The Research Assistant will work closely with a research team to analyze data from a recent user study which will require the applicant to have strong programming skills in Matlab/Simulink, experience writing at a graduate academic level, strong organizational skills, and the ability to take on independent study based on input from the project supervisor.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Process and analyze the data from a recent Human/Robot interaction user study. This includes quality checks of data, producing reports with images, and extracting and summarizing information from the images.

Producing summaries of data suitable for publication with the direction of the project team.

Contributing to the development of scientific publications by providing descriptions of methodology and results.

Communicating regularly with the project team with updates on study progress and issues identified during data processing.
Qualifications / Requirements:

Minimum MSc in Electrical, Software, or Biomedical Engineering

Minimum 3 years of recent, related experience.

Experience with signal processing and data analysis within Matlab/Simulink.

Experience with robotic system development and human/robot interaction.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with academic writing.

Knowledge of study co-ordination and ethics approvals processes.
