Full job description

Position Overview

The Wave Solder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining wave soldering machines used to assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role ensures that production and quality standards are consistently met while adhering to workplace safety and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation:

Set up and operate wave soldering machines.
Load PCBs onto conveyor systems and adjust machine settings according to work orders.

Quality Control:

Monitor soldering processes and inspect boards for defects.
Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 standards and internal quality requirements.
Inspect solder joints, polarity, and component placement.

Maintenance:

Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of wave solder equipment.
Remove oxidized solder (dross) from solder pots.

Post-Soldering Tasks:

Conduct hand soldering, touch-ups, and minor repairs.
Clip component leads and complete other finishing tasks.

Documentation & Compliance:

Read and follow work orders and production procedures.
Document production data and ensure proper labelling of finished goods.

Collaboration:

Work closely with quality control staff and production teams to meet output goals.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues.

Skills Required

Familiarity with electronic components and PCB assembly processes.
Understanding of IPC-A-610 standards and quality requirements.
Basic knowledge of machine operation and maintenance procedures.
Strong attention to detail for defect detection and quality assurance.
Effective communication skills for teamwork and reporting.
Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally[EP1] .
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to safety standards.
Flexibility to adapt to changing production needs and deadlines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in machine operation; electronic assembly experience preferred.
Afternoon Shift: 4:00p.m. to Midnight
