Full job description

Job Summary
The plant which is dealing with medical cannabis is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining facility infrastructure, utilities, production equipment, and support systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This position performs preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while assisting with equipment installations, facility improvements, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Location: Pickering

Shift: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of facility equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic plumbing issues.
Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
Support production operations by addressing equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, compressors, production equipment, and facility systems.
Inspect and test safety systems including emergency lighting, fire alarms, and emergency shut-off devices.
Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Assist with installation, modification, and upgrades of machinery, facility systems, and safety devices.

Production Support & Fabrication

Provide technical support during production activities to maintain operational efficiency.
Assist with fabrication of machine components, brackets, guards, fixtures, and replacement parts.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, machine shop equipment, and 3D printing equipment where applicable.
Assist with equipment modifications and process improvements.
Participate in testing and implementation of new equipment and technologies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade certification or technical training considered an asset.
2-5 years of maintenance, industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance experience preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and plumbing systems. Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
Experience using hand and power tools safely.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces when required.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to respond to occasional after-hours maintenance emergencies.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
