Position Overview:
Reporting to the VP – Operations & Supply Chain, the Strategic Pricing Manager is responsible for developing and leading enterprise pricing strategies that optimize profitability, customer value, market competitiveness, and sustainable growth. This role serves as a key business partner to Sales, Supply Chain, Product Management, Finance, and Operations, translating market intelligence and commercial insights into pricing actions that drive profitable growth while maintaining customer trust and market responsiveness.
The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen with advanced analytical skills to develop pricing strategies that improve profitability and competitiveness in a B2B market. They are a collaborative influencer who can partner across functions, challenge the status quo, and drive pricing excellence throughout the organization.
This role can be fully remote, hybrid or based in office. Home location is flexible for any metropolitan area in which Source Atlantic / Bolt Supply House / Soucie Salo operates.
Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy & Governance
- Develop customer and product segmentation strategies to ensure pricing approaches reflect customer value, market conditions, competitive dynamics, and profitability objectives
- Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with company financial and growth objectives
- Identify and address margin leakage opportunities through pricing discipline, discount management, contract compliance, cost recovery strategies, and profitability analysis.
- Establish pricing governance frameworks, policies, and approval processes
- Lead pricing reviews and ensure consistency across products, services, and customer segments
- Provide strategic guidance on discounting, margins, and contract pricing
Financial & Data Analysis
- Analyze pricing performance, margins, and revenue trends
- Lead customer profitability analysis and provide recommendations to improve margin performance across customer segments, channels, products, and geographic markets.
- Build pricing models, scenario analyses, and forecasting tools
- Monitor key pricing metrics (margin, price realization, discount levels)
Market & Competitive Insights
- Conduct market research and competitive pricing analysis
- Identify market trends, customer willingness to pay, and value drivers
- Benchmark pricing structures and recommend adjustments
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with sales leadership to develop pricing strategies that improve win rates, customer retention, account profitability, and sales effectiveness. Provide analytical support for strategic accounts, large bids, contract renewals, and complex customer negotiations
- Partner with Supply Chain and Product Management to evaluate supplier cost changes, market availability, inventory positions, and sourcing strategies to support effective pricing decisions.
- Work with Finance on margin targets, budgets, and forecasting
- Support Marketing on pricing for new product launches or campaigns
- Collaborate with Operations on cost inputs and pricing impact
Tools, Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain and enhance pricing tools, systems, and reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing processes and controls
- Establish and manage pricing approval frameworks, discount authority matrices, and exception management processes to ensure appropriate pricing discipline and accountability.
- Support implementation of pricing technology or analytics platforms
Leadership & Influence
- Act as a subject matter expert on pricing across the organization
- Lead the organization's pricing maturity journey by establishing pricing best practices, coaching leaders, influencing decision-making, and driving adoption of pricing strategies across the business. Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and recommendations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience overseeing areas such as pricing, financial analysis, or commercial strategy.
- Experience within industrial distribution, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, MRO, fasteners, safety, fluid power, electrical, construction, or a related B2B industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience identifying, prioritizing, and executing pricing improvement opportunities that deliver measurable business impact.
- Proven experience developing and implementing pricing strategies, margin improvement initiatives, and data-driven commercial decisions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, lead change, and drive cross-functional alignment in a decentralized business environment.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to balance customer value, competitiveness, and profitability objectives.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI and analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau is an asset.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with strong attention to detail and process discipline.
Working Conditions:
- This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely or in a hybrid arrangement, however, the employee must be based in or near a metropolitan area in which Source Atlantic / Bolt Supply House operates
- Candidate must be ready & able to travel approximately ~25% travel across Canada.
