Full job description

Role Overview

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Packaging Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for establishing, managing, and optimizing the supply chain of packaging and raw materials to support product development and commercial initiatives. This role primarily focuses on ensuring the timely availability, cost efficiency, and quality of packaging materials for product launches and ongoing operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain management principles, with specific experience in packaging and materials planning, along with a solid understanding of commercial product launches within the nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical industries.

Key Responsibilities

· Works closely with Business Development, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to translate consumer and customer requirements into high-quality, functional packaging solutions.

· Coordinates all aspects of packaging materials, including labels, components, specifications, artwork, and structural design, ensuring alignment with product and regulatory requirements.

· Manages vendor sourcing, costing, and procurement for packaging materials, including negotiating pricing and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

· Leads demand and supply planning for packaging materials, ensuring availability to support production schedules and product launches.

· Maintains and develops packaging documentation (MMR), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and version control for all packaging components.

· Oversees packaging materials replenishment, ensuring optimal inventory levels and continuity of supply.

· Tracks and communicates packaging readiness and timelines, ensuring materials are available to meet launch and production deadlines.

· Supports Senior Management by providing packaging cost analysis and material insights to inform purchasing strategy and budgeting decisions.

· Collaborates on production scheduling and sequencing, providing backup support and ensuring packaging materials align with manufacturing plans.

· Works with Business Development and third-party vendors to develop and execute custom packaging and labeling solutions, ensuring compliance with retailer and regulatory requirements.

· Evaluates and recommends packaging improvements, including cost optimization, sustainability initiatives, and material efficiency.

· Ensures all packaging materials meet quality, regulatory, and customer standards throughout the supply chain.

· All other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience

· 3-5 years' experience working in packaging replenishment coordination.

· Previous experience working in co-manufacturing and/or the nutraceutical or pharma manufacturing industry are definite assets

· Ability to maintain respectful relationships at all levels within and outside the organization.

· Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspects of the business

· Strong customer service orientation with ability to handle customer service situations calmly and professionally

· Ability to be flexible and quickly re-prioritize and react positively with short notice of changes

· Ability to work competently with exceptional accuracy in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment that is challenging and constantly evolving

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to successfully manage tasks and projects independently; strong planning and problem-solving skills

· High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

· Functional experience with SAP

· Understanding of principles of accounting and finance

· Exceptional communication skills, reading, writing, listening and oral communication

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
