At our Stratford Facility, we fabricate and assemble components for heavy truck, defense, and off-road equipment companies. We feature fitting and welding, metal forming, saw cutting, painting, assembly departments, and manufacture everything from small components to large structures, sheet metal to heavy plate.
Compensation Range: $70,000 up to $90,000
Position Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the process development and execution portion the APQP and ECR/ECN processes, identifying and implementing process improvements and cost reduction activities, and supporting Operations in troubleshooting and improving legacy processes
Primary Responsibilities
The incumbent will support the engineering and manufacturing development cycle with a focus on CNC machine applications. In some cases, the candidate will act as a coordinator between the Customer, Business Development, Process Engineering, Quality and Operations. They will be responsible for APQP, ECR/ECN, problem-solving, and capital procurement to ensure project completion targets for time and budget are met.
- Lead product development/problem-solving projects/activities for new launch and current production parts, including, but not limited to the following items:
- Designing fixtures, selecting tooling, creating CNC programs to meet Customer and internal quality and cost requirements
- Support the quoting of new business
- Review and develop standard work instructions for Manufacturing and Engineering processes
- Support engineering change notice activities
- Lead cross-functional teams in root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions to resolve internal and external customer quality issues
- Analyze process data, including costs, to identify and develop process improvement opportunities
- Support kaizen events as a member of cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing processes are optimized to maximize efficiency, productivity and profit
- Manage tasks and timelines to meet customer and Arrow expectations
- Make decisions appropriate to the resolution of the specific tasks and activities assigned
- Identify and implement automation opportunities through capital procurement
- Other duties as required
Required Skills and Expertise
- Degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- 5+ years of related experience in a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of CNC machining processes, programming, machine setup, and tooling selection in 3- and 4-axis and lathe applications
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in machine setup
- Knowledge of GD&T applications related to fixtures and gauges, and experience in work holding/fixture design and procurement
- Proficient in SolidWorks, Mastercam, and AutoCAD/DraftSight
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing methods and tools (Lean/Six Sigma training an asset), with experience in Fixture Design and Process Design
- Experience with capital procurement and project management for capital projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949
Other Preferred Skills:
- Experience with welding, both manual and robotic, including programming and implementation
- Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and analyze difficult issues
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and with good judgment in a team environment

Equipment/Tools/Technology Used:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
- Understanding or practical use of Visual Manufacturing Software
Physical Demands
- Walking and Standing: walk or stand for extended periods while inspecting different areas of the plant.
- Climbing and Crawling: may need to climb ladders or crawl into tight spaces to check equipment or safety systems.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally, may need to lift or carry equipment, safety gear, or other materials, though this is usually limited to manageable weights.
- Exposure to Plant Conditions: Specialists might be exposed to varying environmental conditions such as noise, dust, or temperature extremes, depending on the plant.
