Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will work with children with diverse needs at our centre and in their homes to promote their independence, development, and participation in daily activities. This is a fixed-term, full-time, 10-month position from September 1, 2026 – June 25, 2027. An opportunity to extend the contract or transition into a permanent role may be available in the future.

Duties and Responsibilities

Implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care abilities, play skills, and social interaction within the therapeutic scope of our organization.
Modify strategies to meet the varied needs of the children, families, and other members of the team.
Use standardized tests, clinical observations, and interviews to gather information about children’s functional abilities and challenges.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessment results, goals, strategies, progress notes, and year end summaries.
Provide education and training to staff, families, and caregivers on therapeutic activities and strategies to facilitate progress.
Collaborate with other members of the team, including teachers, speech-language therapists, physiotherapists, and behaviour strategists, to coordinate care and ensure a multidisciplinary approach.
Communicate effectively with team members, families, and caregivers to provide support, guidance, and feedback.
Participate in team meetings, and educational activities to exchange knowledge and enhance the quality of care provided.
Ensure hour tracking is current and accurate.
Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advances in pediatric occupational therapy through continuing education, workshops, and professional conferences.
Maintain license and certification requirements, adhering to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by professional organizations such as the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Qualifications/Required

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
Registered member, in good standing with the ACOT.
Specialization or experience in pediatric occupational therapy preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of the families we serve.
Valid Alberta driver’s license, access to a vehicle during work hours, and willingness to drive to homes throughout Calgary.
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
