Full job description

Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, growing, multi-entity organization in Abbotsford, BC.

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Accountant who enjoys working in a hands-on operational environment where accounting, inventory, costing, and financial analysis are critical to business performance. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives on accuracy, problem-solving, process improvement, and cross-departmental collaboration.

What You'll Do

Accounts Payable Leadership

Oversee full cycle accounts payable processes
Review invoices for accuracy, coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies
Validate invoices against contracts and purchase orders
Resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor issues
Manage weekly payment processing including EFTs, wire transfers, and cheque runs
Maintain accurate vendor records and documentation

Accounting & Financial Reporting

Perform monthly reconciliations including intercompany accounts, accruals, commissions, and general ledger accounts
Prepare and validate month end accruals
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year end financial reporting
Support audits and financial reviews
Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and audit ready

Inventory & Operational Accounting

Perform inventory reconciliations and support inventory reporting
Analyze inventory related transactions and balance sheet accounts
Support costing analysis and operational accounting functions
Investigate discrepancies and identify root causes
Contribute to process improvements and stronger internal controls

Team & Business Support

Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and management teams
Support the Controller with special projects and financial analysis
Participate in cross training and provide backup support within the accounting team
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline processes

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience
Experience working in a multi company or multi entity environment preferred
Experience working within a manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, or production environment is strongly preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Enrolled in or completed the CPA program
Strong understanding of inventory accounting, costing methodologies, and operational accounting
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is considered an asset
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving abilities
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
