We\'re looking for a Senior Cloud and Unix/Linux Specialist who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment. \r\n\r\nManager Notes: \r\n• This individual should possess not only deep technical proficiency in cloud and Linux systems, mainly RedHat Linux, but also the ability to quickly adapt and contribute effectively. \r\n• We\'re looking for someone with a vibrant and engaging personality who can invigorate the team, share ideas freely, and cultivate a constructive team atmosphere.\r\n• This individual should blend into our group smoothly, preserving our current chemistry while valuing the variety of perspectives present.\r\n• They need to excel at proposing fresh ideas, all while acknowledging and enhancing the strategies already in place. \r\n• The ideal candidate will resonate with the Unix Team\'s ethos at Suncor’s Cloud Compute and Automation team, where teamwork, support, and cross-functional collaboration are paramount. \r\n• We need someone who is not just technically skilled but also socially intelligent, capable of navigating the interpersonal aspects of a close-knit group, contributing to both the technical solutions and the supportive, friendly work culture. \r\n• Your contribution to the team\'s knowledgebase will be a key factor in evaluating your performance within the team.\r\n• If you\'re someone who can juggle multiple hats—from cloud operations to automation, and even on-call support—while maintaining high spirits and camaraderie, we\'re eager to meet you. \r\n\r\nKey Responsibilities: \r\n\r\n• Linux Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert for RHEL, managing, maintaining, and optimizing our Linux infrastructure for performance, security, reliability and automation.\r\n• Unix expertise: adept at supporting our current Solaris infrastructure, troubleshooting any arising issues, and leading efforts to decommission these systems while migrating the applications to run on cloud platforms.\r\n• Security: Kernel tuning, system hardening, patch management, compliance management, vulnerability management\r\n• Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring solutions and tools, defining thresholds, metrics\r\n• Cloud Integration: Leverage your experience with AWS or Azure to architect, deploy, and manage cloud solutions that integrate seamlessly with our existing systems, ensuring configuration, efficiency.\r\n• Automation and Scripting: Use your proficiency in Bash, yaml, or other scripting languages to automate processes, reducing manual efforts and enhancing system consistency.\r\n• Leadership and Mentorship: Lead by example, guide junior team members, contribute to team strategy, and foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement.\r\n• Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage in CCA\'s cross-functional initiatives, taking on tasks outside your immediate role to support team goals and contribute to broader company objectives.\r\n• Incident Management: Play a key role in resolving critical incidents, ensuring rapid response, and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.\r\n• Knowledge Sharing: Regularly contribute to team meetings with ideas, feedback, and enhancements, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.\r\n• Documentation and Project management: extensive experience with Confluence and JIRA, focusing on creating, updating, and maintaining clear, comprehensive documentation and managing tasks and workflows, with a commitment to frequent updates to keep pace with changes in systems, processes, or project scope
Key Responsibilities
Extensive Linux Experience: Expert level knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with a strong track record in system administration, performance tuning, security management and scripting and coding.\r\n• Cloud Certifications: Current AWS or Azure certifications or a firm commitment to obtain one. Preference will be given to candidates with existing certifications.\r\n• Automation Skills: Proven experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, Ansible automation platform, Ansible tower or similar, including scripting and coding for custom solutions.\r\n• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead projects or teams, with a history of mentoring others and driving technical initiatives.\r\n• Team Player: Must thrive in a collaborative environment, showing willingness to support and work across different teams within CCA.\r\n• Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to Suncor\'s culture, learn new systems, and contribute to strategic discussions.\r\n• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.\r\n
Skill Requirements
1. Excellent Skills In Terraform For Infrastructure As Code Design, Deployment, And Lifecycle Management.
2. Advanced Proficiency In Aws Paas Services (Lambda, Rds, S3, Etc.) And Aws Cloudformation For Cloud Resource Provisioning.
3. Strong Linux Administration And Troubleshooting Capabilities In Cloud Environments.
4. Excellent Understanding Of Operational Management, Incident Response, And Process Optimization In LargeScale Cloud Settings.
5. Advanced Ability To Mentor, Lead, And Empower Technical Teams In Cloud Operations And Devops Practices.
6. Excellent ProblemSolving, Communication, And Stakeholder Management Skills.
