POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking passionate, outgoing and caring Swim Teachers to join our team at Seal Swimming this September for our Fall Session. In this role, you will empower children to reach their swimming potential in a fun and safe environment. Your contributions will help foster self-esteem and community values among our students.
Swim Teachers are directly responsible for the delivery of Seal Swimming’s programs in adherence to the company’s Core Values. Some administrative duties will be assigned and this position will report to the Operations Manager.
REPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
- Greets, acknowledges, engages and interacts with clients as appropriate.
- Initiates, develops and maintains positive relationships with clients at all times.
- Represents Seal Swimming's team with positivity and enthusiasm at all times.
- Responds to client questions regarding Seal Swimming's programs, policies and procedures.
- Quickly and efficiently responds to client questions, comments and/or concerns.
- Deliver pertinent feedback and comments from clients to the Shift Lead.
Program Delivery
- Apply teaching strategies designed to encourage students to excel, set goals and strive to reach their full potential.
- Deliver Seal Swimming’s classes and curriculum in a professional, punctual and ethical manner.
- Assist team members in the set up and take down of the pool teaching environment.
- Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all students.
- Provide all students with well-rounded, safety-focused instruction aimed at helping them develop a sense of reward, discipline, and perseverance in accordance with Seal Swimming’s Core Values.
- Provide technical expertise on basic swimming skills, stroke improvement, swim starts, turns and finishes.
- Maintain familiarity with the latest tools, techniques and advances in swimming and swim training through continuing education and internal staff training.
Safety Supervision
- Assume responsibility for the safety of swimmers during supervised activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized pool area.
- Comply with safety rules and regulations.
- Diligently prevent emergencies from occurring and respond to situations as necessary.
- Care for injuries, sudden illnesses and other emergency medical occurrences in accordance with training.
- Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment.
- Report accidents and injuries to Shift Lead as soon as possible in accordance with Seal Swimming’s policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular safety training and internal safety audits.
Administration
- Prepare and adapt lesson plans and work schemes for assigned classes.
- Recognize and record swimmer progressions, complete skills assessments and progress reports for all students.
- Assist the Shift Lead in attendance tracking on each shift, making note of any ongoing absences.
- Record swimmer notes and progress logs for use by substitute teachers in the event of an absence or shift swap.
Other Duties
- Performs additional duties as assigned by Management.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications and Skills
- Standard First Aid & CPR C
- Assistant Lifeguard (i.e. Bronze Cross) and be working towards National Lifeguard certification.
- Swim Instructor (Swim Instructor or NCCP certification from a recognized certifying body or organization)
- Seal Swim Teacher (Provided upon hire)
WORK CONDITIONS
- Combination of in-water and on-deck work in a pool environment, with potential for telephone and virtual communication required.
- Involvement in meetings, events, and other operational duties.
- Physical tasks and manual dexterity work.
- 40 hours per week, with flexible availability for evenings and weekends.
