$43,680 - $47,840 annually;
Benefits available after 90 days probation.
Hours
Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Some evenings and weekends as needed for events.

Summary of Position
The Development Officer – Events, Sponsorships and Communication plays a key role in advancing the Downtown Mission’s fundraising, sponsorship, community engagement, events, and communications initiatives. This position supports the Development Team by building relationships with donors, sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and the broader community, while helping promote the Mission’s work through outreach, events, and digital communications.
Expected Outcomes
· Support the team in raising $4,000,000 in annual operating revenue;
· Promote and maintain cost efficiency and responsible resource use;
· Strengthen Development Department processes and policies;
· Manage Downtown Mission social media accounts to support fundraising, community engagement, and awareness;
· Represent the Downtown Mission at community events and support the planning and execution of special events;
· Engage staff, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and community members in events, fundraising, and promotional campaigns;
· Collaborate with team members to achieve organization-wide goals;
· Build and maintain strong professional relationships with staff, business contacts, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners;
· Follow health and safety standards and promote shared responsibility for workplace safety;
· Follow Downtown Mission policies and procedures;
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager or Director.
Education
· Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or Nonprofit Management or other related field;
· A certificate or diploma in Fundraising or Development (e.g., CFRE, Humber College or AFP programs) is an asset;
· Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Other Requirements
· Valid Driver's License with clean Driver's Abstract;
· Must have access and use of personal vehicle;
· Familiarity with rules and regulations governing Canadian charities;
· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
· Proficiency with fundraising database platforms and word processing software;
· Administrative, social media and events management knowledge and experience considered an asset.
· Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Financial Accountability
· Assist in achieving organizational fundraising targets annually;
· Focus on achieving event sponsorship targets and fundraising results annually
Duties and Responsibilities
Corporate Sponsorships & Partnerships
· Identify, engage and secure corporate sponsorships for Mission events and departmental initiatives;
· Build and maintain relationships with community partners;
· Work closely with the Development Team to manage sponsorship packages and confirm sponsor participation.
Fundraising & Donor Development
· Support fundraising efforts including major gifts, legacy giving and donor stewardship;
· Coordinate appeals, donor communications, and recognition activities;
· Track sponsorship commitments and donor contributions using Donor Perfect.
Event Coordination
· Lead sponsorship planning and logistics for fundraising events, ensuring sponsor visibility and engagement;
· Collaborate with internal teams to organize and execute events that raise awareness and support;
· Develop and support event marketing materials, signage and social media promotion.
Community Engagement
· Represent the DTM at community events and outreach opportunities;
· Build partnerships with local organizations, schools, and businesses to increase community involvement and awareness;
· Promote the Mission’s programs and services to inspire community support.
Reporting and Administration
· Track fundraising and sponsorship results, providing regular updates and reports to leadership
· Track social media trends and content integrations and provide regular updates and reports to leadership
· Maintain accurate records in donor management systems.
· Support planning for annual fundraising calendars and departmental strategies.
Staff Management
· Mentor, work with, and supervise volunteers and placement students from time to time.
· Maintain healthy relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and community partners in accordance with the Downtown Mission’s Code of Conduct.
Pay: $43,680,000.00-$47,840,000.00 per year
