Compensation: From $55,000 to $60,000 per annum + benefits.
Regular Work Hours: 7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: Hybrid - combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client's North York office, with free parking provided. Probationary period to be worked 100% onsite.
Responsibilities Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant / Litigation Support professional to join our growing litigation team, with a strong focus on mortgage enforcement matters. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident, managing files independently in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to lawyers handling mortgage enforcement files
- Draft, prepare, and revise legal documents, including statements of claim, affidavits, notices of sale, and motion materials
- Manage and maintain litigation files from initiation through resolution
- Coordinate service and filing of court documents in accordance with applicable rules and deadlines
- Monitor timelines, limitation periods, and court schedules to ensure compliance
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, opposing counsel, and third parties (e.g., process servers, title searchers)
- Conduct title and corporate searches, and review relevant documents
- Prepare reporting letters and status updates for clients
- Assist with enforcement proceedings, including evictions, writs of possession, and judicial sales
- Maintain accurate records in document management and case management systems
- Additional litigation and mortgage enforcement responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Legal Administration or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 4 years of experience supporting a litigation practice, with a focus on mortgage enforcement.
Preferred Sector Experience: Law Firm experience required.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Proficiency in legal drafting and document preparation
- Experience with court filing systems (e.g., e-filing platforms)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software systems
- Strong written and reading comprehension skills, including advanced-level business writing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax.

- Strong knowledge of foreclosure and/or power of sale procedures and applicable court rules
- Punctual, responsible, and reliable. Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character.
- Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively, and to manage volume targets and due dates.
- Pleasant and courteous. Demonstrated commitment to client service and professional representation of the organization.
- Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgment in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
- Superior attention to detail and an organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by the organization's health and safety policies.
- Ability to promptly provide a minimum of 3 recent, qualified employment references at the point of client interview who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
- Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, Interpersonal Skills Assessment, and Employment References as required.
