Full job description

Join the Cypress Mountain Accounting Team as Payroll Accountant and play a key role in supporting payroll and accounting operations, including payroll administration, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records and processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to the following):

· Administer, maintain, and review payroll processing and accounting systems for 1,000+ employees to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salaries, wages, benefits, taxes, and other deductions

· Ensures the accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations and pay rate changes

· Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports

· Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, employment standards, and payroll best practices

· Assist with internal and external audits by preparing payroll records and supporting documentation

· Identify and recommend updates to payroll accounting software, systems and procedures

· Prepare and process payroll-related journal entries, including:

o Bi-weekly payroll entries

o Workers Compensation entries

o Employer Health Tax entries

o Vacation accruals

· Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll remittances and taxes, including Workers Compensation Board and Employer Health Tax filings

· Assist with monthly account reconciliations

· Support the Assistant Controller and Controller with departmental responsibilities and special projects

· Contribute to overall department goals by performing other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

· Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant or in a similar role, preferably in Canada

· Experience with Ceridian/Dayforce is considered an asset

· Strong ability to learn and navigate payroll systems

· In-depth knowledge of Canadian and British Columbia payroll processes, tax regulations and employment standards

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, accounting software, and databases

· Hands-on experience working with spreadsheets and financial reporting

· Strong time management and organizational skills

· High level of accuracy and attention to detail

· Self-motivated, dependable, punctual, and professional

· Ability to remain organized and courteous in a fast-paced environment

· Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

· Ability to adapt effectively within a dynamic and diverse workplace

· Ski Industry experience is considered an asset but is not required

· Payroll Compliance Professional or Payroll Leadership Professional is considered an asset

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

· Must be able to legally work in Canada

· Valid driver’s license

· Reliable, insured vehicle with winter tires required for transportation to and from work during all seasons.

WAGE/BENEFITS:

· Salary: $65,000-$68,000 annually based on experience
