Full job description

Position: Industrial Painter

Location: Western Canada

Type: Full Time, Hourly

Barrier Group is an integrated industrial service provider with offices in Stony Plain and Red Deer, Alberta that provides field abrasive blasting, protective coating applications, as well as pipeline maintenance, field construction, scaffolding and fabrication for many customers across multiple industries. Barrier Group Is looking for an experienced full-time (seasonal) Industrial Painter/Coater. We are looking for an outgoing, adaptable individual looking to learn and grow within our team and industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepping materials for coating, including sandblasting paint surfaces
Masking of materials
Maintaining equipment required for the job
Previous experience in the use and maintenance of paint spray systems including conventional, airless, and plural
Previous experience coating Piping Internals and Tanks/Vessels
Safely and properly storing and disposing of chemical waste
Using instruments to ensure specifications and quality are met
Read and interpret specifications to ensure all requirements are met
Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with Barrier Group’s safe work practices, policies, and procedures
Ability to identify hazards
Report all incidents, near misses and equipment damage to site supervision
Assist with other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age
Minimum of 2 years of previous experience with industrial painting
Familiar with Industrial Paint Codes and Standards
Familiar with spraying and sandblasting equipment
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with 3-year clean Driver’s Abstract
CSTS Certification
Standard First Aid Certification
H2S Alive Certification
OSSA Confined Space Certification
NACE Certificate is considered an asset
Must be able to pass pre-employment and pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to participate positively in an engaging culture
Must be dependable
Effective attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions:

Overtime as required
