Claims Examiner
The Claims Examiner will be a key member of the National Insurance Operations team, reporting to our Claims Manager. You will collaborate with partners and clients to resolve property and casualty claims.
Here is what a typical day looks like

Securing telephone statements and details of damages from customers.

Review and interpret policy wordings and parameters to determine if coverage is in-force and triggered by the loss

Manage claims settlement process with independent adjusters, providing recommendations and direction for negotiation and settlement within authority provided by insurers

Perform in-house adjustment of claims within authority granted by provincial authorities and insurers

Set and maintain accurate loss and expense reserves based upon investigation and/or recommendations, including validating independent adjusters’ or insurers’ reserve calculations and advising of discrepancies

Perform business interruption calculations

Provide feedback to Underwriters, Risk Management, and Brokerage teams on claims frequency and physical hazards

Maintain and action abeyance files and payment schedules

Draft and distribute correspondence to insureds, insurers, third party claimants, adjusters and other industry members
The value you bring

General Insurance Level 2 License required (must obtain within 3 months of hire)

Working towards your CIP or CAIB preferred
-
Proven experience working with Claims in the insurance industry

Clear professional communication, both verbal and written
-
Knowledge of MS products including Word, Excel, Outlook
