inHabit Projects + Design is currently looking to hire a Junior or Intermediate Project Engineer/Technician to assist in the day-to-day operations of the company on a full/part-time basis. Under the guidance of a Principal Project Manager (P.Eng) and/or a Project Manager, this team member will ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget and to a high standard. A candidate looking for experience with a small company, having a wide variety of tasks, duties and responsibilities would be well-suited for this position.
Schedule and Hours:
Full/part-time, flexible, up to 45 hours per week immediately, over 4 - 5 days per week. A schedule will be based on availability, project demands and workload. We all have lives and families; scheduling will be negotiable and flexible within reason.
Responsibilities may include:
- Communicating with partners, contractors, and clients
- Researching means and methods
- Sourcing materials
- Attending site, office and virtual meetings
- Preparing design drawings; Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Archicad, etc.
- Conducting and reporting on site-visits, inspections and meetings
- Preparing design calculations; Jabacus, Forte, SAFE, Woodworks, etc.
- Preparing quantity takeoffs and budget estimates
- Preparing and maintaining documents, contracts and specifications
- Running errands and completing basic office/shop chores
- Undertaking construction, assembly, fabrication, manufacturing and related activities
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction, computers, carpentry, mechanic (light or heavy), architecture, building science, other sciences, manufacturing, production or another related field.
- Basic understanding of project management in construction, design, production, and/or manufacturing.
- 0 - 5 years experience in related work (Junior).
- 3 - 10 years experience in related work (Intermediate).
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with an ability to be self-motivated and work independently… have the confidence to ask questions.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to share information with the team and management in English.
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Ability to be versatile, problem-solve, and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Have a keen interest in working on multidisciplinary projects across a variety of industries.
- Have a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license; having a vehicle for work purposes is preferred but is not required.
Experience with the following programs or equivalents will be considered an asset:
- Adobe Acrobat
- Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
- AutoCAD, Revit, Archicad, etc.
- Structural modelling software
- Google Drive (Sheets, Docs, Slides…)
- Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Office (OneNote, Excel, Word, Teams…)
- Google SketchUp
