Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Installing all types of signage including; illuminated, non-illuminated, structural and decorative signage, awnings, wooden signs, vinyl, etc.
- Operating heavy equipment and tools, including Crane Truck, Bucket & Auger trucks.
- Reading and analyzing install drawings to understand design intent and installation instructions.
- Comply with all safety requirements, work rules and regulations with a proactive approach on how to complete the work safely and efficiently.
- Operating light and heavy equipment and tools to install all types of signs bringing the clients vision to reality. (Freestanding & wall mounted signs, concrete bases, electrical, decorative elements, cutout letters, etc.)
- Review and interpret locates and operating Auger equipment to ensure hole drilling matches existing sign cages and proposed structure when required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, operations, equipment maintenance, and safety inspections.
- Keep track of paperwork and time sheets on jobs including labor and materials for each project, surveys, customer sign off etc.
- Customer service – dealing directly with clients to schedule appointments onsite.
- Communicate effectively with the Client, Installation Manager and co-workers.
- Have creative interest in the final product and finished look to exceed client expectations..
- Must be prepared to work indoors or outdoors in all elements and weather conditions.
- Capable of managing time on site to get the job done right with adherence to expected timelines.
- Must be willing to stay in different locations overnight if needed.
- This position has potential to include wiring and troubleshooting of signage LED modules, Fluorescent fixtures, Neon tubing, Ballasts and power supplies, and electrical components according to UL standards (initial training and certification provided on job)
Background, Skills, and Training:
- The ideal candidate will possess basic construction, excavating and installation skills and have at least 3 years of similar experience or a combination of experience. Electrical background is an asset, but not required.
- Must have air brake certification.
- Have experience and training operating a boom truck safely and working in a job site discipline.
- Must have a comprehensive general understanding of fabrication & installation for structural integrity and wind load.
- Must be self-motivated, passionate about your work and able to get the job done on time and with the utmost level of quality, without supervision.
- You will require advanced, creative problem solving skills and be able to overcome challenges utilizing the resources available to you.
- Must be clean and organized.
- Must be willing to work extra hours when the job requires.
The 4 Blocks for the Lead installer
Block 1 Requirements ($18-$20)
- Apprentice with 2+ years experience in a similar trade
- Knowledge on how to use a tape measure correctly
- Knowledge on how to use hand tools ( Drill, saw, sockets excreta)
- When asked for a tool they can deliver it as needed to the Lead
- Proficient in Manual Labor and hands on work
Block 2 Requirements ($20-$24)
- SSIT Apprentice Online portion completed
- Able to Drive the Trucks/Trailer and complete internal drivers testing
- Fall Arrest License, Lockout/Tagout
- Able to operate lifts and zoom booms
- Able to use aerial lift controls on Crane and bucket truck
- 3 months of Successful Service work completed without deficiencies
BLOCK 3 Requirements ($25-$29)
- SSIT Certification
- Run the truck to compete Installation and service work independently
- Show 3 months of Successful Installations without Deficiencies
- Air Brakes License
- Obtain Boom Truck Operators License training
- Able to operate and dig holes with the auger truck
- Installation of Concrete bases and site work
- Supervise a helper with efficiency
Block 4 Requirements ($30-$35)
- Supervision and direction with Subcontractors
- Show experience and proficiency in making educated decisions on the job without compromising quality
- Able to lead an Apprentice and provide guidance to block 3 employees
- Consistently completing jobs under estimated times without deficiencies.
- SME (subject matter expert) to make recommendations to solution challenges that come up during design engineering phase
