Intermediate Project Associate (Vancouver, Hybrid)
Job Summary: Our office in Vancouver is looking for a Intermediate Project Associate- Building Science to provide project delivery for Asset Management, Building Envelope and Renovation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting field investigations related to both building condition assessments, reserve fund studies and more in-depth envelope repair/evaluation projects (Cladding, roofs, windows and doors, parkade restoration).
- Preparation of written reports inclusive of cost analysis and design recommendations.
- Preparation of in-depth Building Condition Assessment and Reserve Fund reports for government, private owners and institutional lenders.
- Development of contract documents, including plans, details and specifications for additions/modifications/renovations to residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
- Tendering and Construction Administration, inclusive of the development of Field Observation Reports.
- Field investigations, both visual and destructive testing, to provide evaluation of building envelope systems
- Prioritize and deliver multiple small – medium projects, from beginning to end, with remote senior input and supervision.
- Be capable of working on multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
- Have the capacity to mentor a junior staff person for potential future growth of the office.
- Liaise with clients, design team consultants and contractors to ensure all project work is compliant with the design documents, while ensuring the projects will be delivered on time and on budget
- Be self-directed and use initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interpret building specifications, investigate design and field conditions, identify site constraints our unique conditions.
- Work with Senior Engineers and Architects; taking directions and technical support as/when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a Certificate in Architectural or Building Science Technology from an accredited University or School of Technology.
- Ideally be a Certified Technologist, P. Eng, are Registered Architect or have the capacity to become one in the next 1-2 years.
- Ideally have 7+ years prior experience in building science/building envelope restoration/technical side of architecture in a consulting setting.
- Have working knowledge of building codes and standards.
- Have some experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- You have experience with concrete and masonry restoration, cladding and glazing upgrades, roofs, etc.
- You have access to a reliable vehicle with a valid Canadian Driver’s License for travel to client sites throughout British Colombia.
- You are willing to work on site and deal with Contractors throughout British Colombia, but with a focus on the Gretar Vancouver Area.
- You are comfortable with working at heights or in confined spaces.

Compensation & Benefits:
The expected base salary range for this role is $80,000 to 95,000 CAD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
