- Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing
- Current registration in the extended class and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of 5 years recent related surgical experience
- Current member of the Nurse Practitioner's Association of Ontario (NPAO) or Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO), preferred
- Mandatory Current Professional Liability Protection
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP (C)
- Valid Driver's License (G class) with the ability to travel within the South-West LHIN
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in clinical practice, education, program development and research
- Expertise in functioning in an inter-disciplinary health care environment
- Ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues and therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Expertise in critical thinking, clinical problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Effective organizational, conceptual and leadership skills
- Ability to provide project management skills to promote evidence-based strategies and initiatives for Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery and ability to work in partnership with relevant LHSC staff and physicians
- Experience in/or understanding research, program development and evaluation
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal relations and communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated excellence as a role model for clinical leadership
- Demonstrated experience with clinical teaching in an academic environment
- Advanced presentation skills including the application of adult learning principles, change theory and systems theory in a clinical environment
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice
- Self-directed and function independently
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated skill in insight, self-awareness and self-management consistent with high emotional intelligence
