Job Description
IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. is a manufacturer of quality commercial and residential roofing products and part of the IKO Group of Companies. We presently have an opportunity for an HSE Co-op (8-month or 12-month contract) to join our team based in Brampton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in ensuring training matrix is up to date, create a monthly training schedule, and support/guide supervisors on providing the training

Update employee STOP card and Field Level Risk Assessment inputs and compliance

Liaise with plant staff on health, safety and environmental issues
-
Assist in overseeing contractors and activities during on-site projects to ensure compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations in addition to all H&S site requirements

Assist in checking daily Work Permits as required

Meet and update with the site HSE Specialist on a daily basis

Assist in updating and monitoring Corporate and Site Pandemic procedures and compliance

Printing and marking of HSE testing, and ongoing updating of records

Weekly and monthly checks on safety equipment (eyewash stations, showers, etc.)

Other site duties may be assigned by the HSE Specialist (i.e. WHMIS (GHS) inventory and updates), Site safety maps update, etc.)
Qualifications, Skills and Education:
-
Must be enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student in a recognized post-secondary Co-op education program in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science

Strong interest in health and safety and/or environmental studies
-
Excellent organization and analytical skills
-
Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to establish priorities and work effectively in a team
-
Strong technical writing skills to be able to create documents for an adult learning audience

Strong commitment to the Health and Safety and the Environment Preferred
Experience:
-
Knowledge of health, safety and/or environmental legislation will be an asset
-
Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment would be an asset

Ability to read and interpret safety and environmental legislation and engineering documents
-
Excellent working knowledge of tools like MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), SharePoint, etc.

Candidates must have their own transportation as travel may be required.
Wage:
-
$22.50/hour - $25.50/hour
Hours/ Days / Schedule
Hours of work will be primarily Monday through Friday {40 hours, day shift}.
