Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Clerical Supervisor and Managers of the Gastroenterology (GI) and Hepatology Program, the Casual Administrative Support III (Front Reception) plays a key role in supporting the delivery of efficient, patient-centered care within a busy outpatient clinic. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, this position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while facilitating the day-to-day operations of the clinic. Key responsibilities include reception and clerical duties, assisting patients with forms and consents, triaging incoming telephone calls and correspondence, conducting appointment reminder calls, and processing selected physician orders. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure the smooth flow of clinic activities and a positive patient experience. Working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, this role requires strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, along with meticulous attention to detail. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is essential. The clinic currently operates Monday through Friday between 0645 and 1800 (7.75 hour shifts), with hours subject to change based on operational requirements. This position offers opportunities for cross-training and development within the department, including roles in GI Central Access Triage (ASIII), Endoscopy Unit Clerk (ASIV), and GI/Hepatology Procedure Booking Clerk (ASIV).

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of Medical Office Assistant course required. Minimum of one year in a medical clerical position required. Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 45 wpm required. Ability to work with various types of equipment including fax machines, photocopiers and printers required. Professional phone etiquette and fostering positive patient and colleague relationships is necessary. Organization, prioritization and time management are essential. Must be able to function in a high volume, fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with frequent interruptions. Physical requirements include manual dexterity, frequent walking, frequent computer work and ability to carry up to 15 lbs. Requirement to commit availability of minimum 3 days/week for 2-3 months to successfully orientate and become proficient in role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and understanding of GI/Hepatology terminology, procedures and tests preferred. Experience in referral management with training in connect care referral coordinator role and work queue management preferred.
