Our electrical engineering team designs building systems for educational, healthcare, recreational, residential, commercial, pharmaceutical, food-processing, and industrial facilities, as well as municipal infrastructure projects including underground electrical distribution, street lighting, and pumping stations. Our services include electrical power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, security, structured cabling, audiovisual systems, emergency power generation, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and photovoltaic (solar) systems, and industrial instrumentation and control cabling.
Our projects typically begin in the conceptual or preliminary design and commissioning stages and continue through detailed design, tendering, contract administration, and construction support. We work closely with architects, developers, building owners, municipalities, and provincial and federal government agencies to deliver successful projects throughout Atlantic Canada.

Position Description
MCA Consultants Inc. is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to play a leadership role in expanding our electrical engineering practice throughout Halifax and Atlantic Canada.
As a key member of our team, you will combine technical excellence with client relationship management and business development to help drive the continued growth of our Halifax office. You will mentor junior staff, lead challenging projects across a variety of sectors, and help shape the future of our electrical engineering group. For the right individual, this position also offers a clear pathway to partnership.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and strengthen client relationships while supporting business development initiatives.
· Lead the growth and development of the electrical engineering team in our Halifax office.
· Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
· Design electrical building systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, municipal, multi-unit residential projects, and industrial, pharmaceutical and food processing.
· Manage projects from concept through construction, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
· Attend and lead client meetings throughout all phases of project delivery.
· Prepare and review engineering reports, drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
· Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
· Support tendering activities, including preparing and issuing addenda and responding to requests for information.
· Provide construction administration services, including reviewing shop drawings, attending site meetings, responding to contractor inquiries, and conducting site reviews.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
· Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia, or eligible for registration.
· Minimum of five years of progressive experience in electrical building systems design within a consulting engineering environment.
· Demonstrated experience managing projects from concept through construction, including scope, schedule, budgets, and client expectations.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
· Excellent written communication skills, including preparing technical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
· Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience supporting and developing junior engineers, Engineers-in-Training (EITs), technologists, and CADD technicians.
· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· A proactive, collaborative, and client-focused approach to problem solving.
· Experience with business development, client relationship management, and proposal preparation would be considered a strong asset.

Pay: $95,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
