Housing Based Case Manager, Housing First
Full-Time
This job posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.
It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. TI has over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services. By incorporating the principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ), TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
The position provides intensive support in tandem with the Housing Specialist and a Cultural Support Worker, providing direct intensive support to individuals or families that are homeless and looking to transition into more appropriate housing options. The worker works the client to create an individualized service plan that will help them achieve housing and life stability.
Responsibilities:
- Delivers effective services safely and respectfully while maintaining professional rapport with clients, peers, and other community service providers;
- Adheres to the Housing First Model, working with service users to achieve greater independence;
- Advocates for the client in all aspects of culture (physical, mental, spiritual, and social);
- Completes a safety plan and risk minimization plan to appropriately support clients in the community.
- Prepares client assessment reviews
- Provides referrals to appropriate internal and external service providers.
- Balances the needs of caseload depending on acuity, length of time in the program, state of housing stability, etc
- Reviews and evaluates client progress on an ongoing basis and adjusts case plans in consultation with the team and manager.
- Inputs all client data and completes monthly statistical reports.
- Organizes and maintains client case files in accordance with TI’s protocol.
- Acts as an ambassador for TI within and outside the organization by creating an awareness of TI’s programs and services.
- Contributes to the organization’s work through collaborative teamwork and participating in meetings and committees as required.
- Works in a manner that preserves confidentiality and seeks to minimize risks for clients, employees and the organization.
- Become familiar with and comply with all of TI’s policies and procedures; and
- Any other duties assigned to you as may reasonably be required in line with the Position’s main responsibilities.
Education, Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum college diploma in human services, social work, or a related field of study
- Experience in delivering related urban housing services, preferably to the Inuit community
- Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video-conferencing platforms
- First aid, CPR and non-violent crisis intervention training
- Knowledge of the Indigenous and non-Indigenous housing support and service system of Ottawa;
- Knowledge of Inuit culture, values, Inuit Qaujimajatugangit (IQ) and traditional practices;
- Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape as it pertains to Inuit;
- Commitment to a client-centered approach when working with Inuit;
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment; and
- Fluency in English required, fluency in Inuktitut is an asset.

Salary and Benefits
- Salary range is $52,000 to $ 54,300 Annually
- TI provides paid sickness, personal and family sickness leave days, and a 24/7 confidential Employee and Family Assistance Plan.
- Vacation (earn 3 weeks/year).
