Salary: $25.55 to $31.27 per hour

Wage Benefits:

In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:

$3.25 per hour for weekends

The renovated William Watson Lodge (WWL) is located in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, overlooking Lower Kananaskis Lake. The lodge provides year-round, barrier-free lodging for persons with disabilities, seniors and their families. The goal of this facility is to connect people of all abilities, all ages and all cultures to recreational opportunities in nature.

Reporting to the Grounds and Caretaking Supervisor, the Snow Removal Specialist is responsible for working as a team to ensure the timely removal of snow and ice at William Watson Lodge (WWL) and other Alberta Parks facilities in Kananaskis Country.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Clearing snow at William Watson Lodge, facilities in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and Bow Valley Provincial Park.
Repair and maintenance of equipment and tools.
Reporting on equipment status, requirements and safety related issues.
Providing assistance on an as-needed basis for ancillary site operations including guest services, custodial operations and trail crew.

William Watson Lodge is located in a remote location in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, about 75 minutes from Cochrane, 60 minutes from Canmore and 100 minutes from Calgary. Staff housing is available for successful candidates.

Qualifications

Required:

Some high school education and one year of related experience, including operating and maintaining equipment.

Additional requirements (must be submitted prior to employment):

Recognized Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certification (must be maintained as current for the entire period of hire by the employee).
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent and clear 3-year Driver’s Abstract, less than 6 demerits.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check.

Assets:

Experience using and maintaining snow clearing equipment and tools.
Knowledge of basic ice and snow removal techniques.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
Experience with loading, unloading and driving a trailer.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and understanding of Microsoft Office software.
Familiarity with Kananaskis Region and surrounding area.
Caretaking experience.

Notes

Terms of employment:

These positions are based on a 40-hour work week, from November 2026 until mid to end of March 2027, with a possible extension into April 2027. One of these positions will be starting mid-October 2026.
Hours of employment are up to 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts.
Shifts are typically 08:00-16:30 and include weekend and holiday work.
Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet operational needs.
Must be physically able to perform the manual duties found in the position assignment.
Training will be provided to successful candidates.

Any initial costs associated with obtaining required documents/checks as noted will be the responsibility of the candidate. However, some reimbursements may occur. Interview travel expenses will not be reimbursed. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
