Senior / Lead Barista

Position: Lead Barista (Full-Time)

Location: In-Person

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lead Barista to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the anchor of our bar operations during shifts, maintaining exceptional drink quality, setting the tone for customer service, and mentoring barista staff.

This is an elevated floor-leadership position for a skilled coffee professional who loves working on the bar, training others, and keeping shift operations smooth—without the administrative duties of store management.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee Quality & Bar Operations

Maintain high standards of coffee extraction, milk steaming, and drink presentation (including latte art) across all shifts.
Dial in espresso daily and troubleshoot extraction or grind settings throughout service to ensure consistency.
Oversee bar cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and routine cleaning schedules (e.g., backflushing group heads, cleaning grinders).
Ensure prompt service and smooth bar workflow during peak hours.

Shift Leadership & Team Support

Lead by example on the floor, fostering a positive, cohesive, and high-energy workplace.
Provide real-time guidance and feedback to team members during shifts to keep service running seamlessly.
Assist in training new baristas on espresso techniques, drink recipes, POS operation, and customer service standards.

Customer Service & Sales

Deliver warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service to all guests.
Maintain deep product knowledge across our beverage menu, cakes and pastries, and cafe menu to guide customer recommendations.
Operate the POS system efficiently and accurately handle transactions.

Stock & Station Preparation

Monitor bar supplies, milk inventory, syrup levels, and retail coffee throughout shifts, restocking as needed.
Report inventory shortages, low stock, or equipment maintenance needs to management.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2+ years of specialty barista experience; previous experience in a senior or keyholder role is a plus.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in espresso extraction, milk steaming techniques, latte art, and basic grinder calibration.
Leadership & Communication: Excellent communication skills, fluent in English with a natural ability to coach, encourage, and guide peers constructively.
Operational Agility: Ability to multitask, stay calm, and prioritize effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Availability: Full-time availability, including weekends.
