Renovation Foreman / Lead Carpenter
$40–$48/hour based on experience and demonstrated ability

The Position
We’re looking for an experienced Renovation Foreman / Lead Carpenter to take ownership of projects and lead an experienced 3-person renovation crew.
This is a high-responsibility, high-expectation position.
We are not looking for someone who is simply good at one aspect of construction. We need a versatile, highly experienced tradesperson who understands the entire renovation process, can confidently lead a crew, and knows how to maintain a high standard from the first day of a project through completion.
You should be the person who can walk onto a job, look at the plans, understand the scope, identify what needs to happen next, communicate it to the crew and make it happen.
If you need to be told what to do every day, this isn't the position for you.

What You'll Be Responsible For
As Foreman, you will be responsible for both hands-on construction and day-to-day leadership of your crew.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing an experienced 3-person renovation crew
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, elevations and project scopes
- Understanding project requirements and translating them into daily tasks
- Framing and structural carpentry
- Drywall installation
- Finish carpentry
- Woodworking and custom cabinetry
- Tile installation and waterproofing systems
- Stair and railing installation
- General renovation and construction
- Maintaining quality standards throughout each project
- Identifying potential issues before they become problems
- Problem solving and making sound field decisions
- Managing day-to-day workflow and project priorities
- Following project scopes, schedules and management directives
- Communicating project progress and issues with management
- Maintaining an organized, safe and professional jobsite
- Representing the company professionally in clients' homes
- Using construction/project management software and digital time-tracking systems
- Ensuring work is completed to applicable building codes and municipal requirements
What We're Looking For
This position requires a very specific level of experience.
You must have:
- Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification
- 10+ years of residential renovation experience
- 3+ years of experience in a Foreman, Lead Carpenter or construction management role
- Demonstrated experience leading a crew
- Strong understanding of residential construction and renovation
- Ability to confidently read blueprints, plans and elevations
- Working knowledge of Alberta Building Code requirements and applicable municipal bylaws
- Experience with construction/project management software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Reliable transportation
- Your own professional hand tools and tool belt
- Steel-toe boots/shoes
- Physically capable of performing the demands of residential renovation work

This Position Is Not For Everyone

$40–$48/hour is a premium wage because this is a premium-responsibility position.
We're looking for someone who already has the experience, technical knowledge and leadership ability to operate at this level.
If you don't have the 10+ years of renovation experience, 3+ years of leadership/management experience and Red Seal certification, please don't apply.
