About Us
Landmark is seeking a Coordinator - Environmental and Cultural Monitoring for work throughout British Columbia. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to play an important role leading and participating in oversight, compliance, and First Nation monitoring activities during archaeology, forestry, mining, oil, gas, and construction projects.
This role is suited to a highly organized professional who enjoys working with people, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to the responsible development of infrastructure, transportation, energy, resource, and land development projects. The successful candidate will balance office-based coordination, reporting, and administrative tasks with fieldwork, and will work closely with First Nations, contractors, regulators, and the Landmark Monitoring Team to ensure monitoring programs are delivered safely, professionally, and effectively.
This position will require travel to project sites as directed by Landmark.
Depending on project requirements, responsibilities of the Coordinator - Environmental and Cultural Monitoring may include:
· Leading clear and timely communications with clients and stakeholders to establish project schedules and requirements.
· Coordinating the Landmark Monitoring Team, including developing and communicating schedules to efficiently meet the staffing requirements of multiple concurrent projects.
· Organizing site access requirements and helping coordinate travel arrangements.
· Completing, reviewing, and coordinating the submission of forms, field notes, reports, and other documentation from Landmark’s monitoring work sites.
· Maintaining files and project documentation in accordance with Landmark quality standards.
· Conducting project communications between clients and stakeholders, Landmark Project Managers, and the Landmark Monitoring Team.
· Observing construction works and other ground-disturbance activities at active work sites to assess compliance with cultural and environmental protection measures.
· Digging test-pits, screening soil, and supporting the identification, documentation, and reporting of cultural and heritage resources.
· Participating in project meetings, site orientations, safety discussions, and training activities.
· Following all project health and safety requirements, conducting worksite hazard assessments, supporting health and safety compliance and providing leadership to the Landmark Monitoring Team.
· Contributing to the continuous improvement of Landmark’s monitoring services.
Required Qualifications
· Diploma, certificate, or degree in a relevant discipline.
· Experience coordinating environmental, cultural, archaeological, natural resource, construction, or field-based programs.
· Strong administrative, organizational, and project coordination skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and digital reporting systems.
· Valid driver’s license from a Canadian province or territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.
· Ongoing access to a reliable vehicle to attend job sites. Mileage compensation provided.
· Ability and willingness to:
o Travel and stay in camp or hotel accommodation for extended periods.
o Work in challenging outdoor conditions for extended hours on rotational schedules, often falling outside standard business hours.
o Attend and successfully complete Landmark, industry, and client-specific training.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
· University degree in archaeology, anthropology, biology, or a related field.
· Understanding of environmental monitoring, cultural monitoring, construction monitoring, and stewardship initiatives.
· Self-motivated; proven ability to deliver results when working independently and within a team environment.
· Ability to approach problems with curiosity and work with opposing views in a professional and culturally appropriate manner.
· Able to conduct oneself professionally and demonstrate confidentiality, diplomacy, and tact in front of clients and project stakeholders.
· Experience working with fish, birds, wildlife, and vegetation assessments/surveys.
· Experience identifying and working with archaeological materials.
· Experience working on construction sites and around heavy equipment.
· Experience working with First Nations communities, governments, and industry proponents.
Location: Work is often field based with sites located throughout British Columbia. Desktop work will be completed at Landmark’s office in Vancouver, BC.
Hours of Work: Working hours will vary according to the needs of Landmark’s clients. This is a full-time role that will include work outside of standard business hours.
Compensation: $28-45 per hour, depending on experience. Daily living out allowance is provided while working away from home.
