CNC Programmer/Set-up Machinist
Location: Guelph, ON
Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a CNC Programmer/Set-up Machinist on behalf of a well-established manufacturer in Guelph

Responsibilities

Programmer

Collaborate with management and engineering on machining feasibility and processes
Develop and optimize CNC programs for mills and lathes
Create setup sheets and design fixtures
Coordinate with tooling suppliers to select appropriate tools
Use Mastercam to create solid models
Design and support fixture production (in-house or outsourced)
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with teams
Improve efficiency (cycle time, setup, tooling performance)
Ensure processes meet customer and specification requirements
Manage technical data and documentation

Machinist

Set up and operate CNC mills to produce precision parts from technical drawings
Select and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine settings for efficient production
Inspect parts and make adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy
Monitor machining processes and correct issues in real time
Read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
Troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain machine calibration
Follow safety and quality standards
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
Perform basic machine maintenance

Qualifications:

Prior hands-on experience as a Machinist
Strong proficiency in Mastercam and SolidWorks
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, charts, quality documentation, and tolerance/surface finish specifications
Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T principles
Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools
5+ years of experience in complex CNC machine programming, supporting shop-floor machinists and operators
Advanced knowledge of CNC programming for mills and/or lathes
