Job Title: Business Operations Manager
Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Business Operations Manager is a hands-on role that will be responsible for all aspects of Finance and Accounting, Information Technology and Security. The position’s effort is allocated as 50% accounting oversight and 50% IT and security operations. The position partners with leadership to improve visibility, strengthen controls, optimize workflows, and support continued organizational growth while leveraging the use of Information Technology. The Business Operations Manager will report to the CEO.
The ideal candidate is someone with more than three years experience with Finance and Accounting and IT Security Management. They must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. They are highly organized, proactive, operationally strong, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in an evolving environment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Security Leadership & Operations
- Evaluate the organization’s existing information security program and develop a plan for improvement in a rapidly growing cloud based tech environment.
- Work with business leaders to establish security priorities aligned with the business objectives and compatible with risk tolerance.
- Provide expert guidance to leadership on security risks, trade-offs and investments.
- Define and maintain baseline security standards for identity and access management, endpoint protection, logging and monitoring.
- Implement controls in a scalable and operationally practical way.
- Provide security input into infrastructure and system design decisions.
- Conduct periodic access reviews and coordinate vendor security assessments.
- Drive the organization’s security awareness program.
- Support customer, partner, and regulatory security requirements as needed.
Information Technology Management
- Serve as the primary administrator for ISCT’s internal business applications - including day-to-day management, user support, configuration, and issue resolution.
- Maintain working knowledge of all business-critical applications in use across the organization.
- Assist with company-wide initiatives and special projects, including system upgrades and IT improvements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for staff experiencing application or systems issues.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the business teams and external technical support.
- Identify recurring support issues and address root causes through process improvement, documentation, or training.
- Lead staff technology onboarding.
Financial and Accounting Operations
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions.
- Lead, mentor, and train accounting staff, ensuring clear delegation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support the CEO with strategic and financial planning, budgeting, risk management, procurement, and contract or supplier negotiations.
- Ensure full compliance with US GAAP, Canadian GST, international VAT and other regulatory obligations.
- Evaluate accounting systems and processes; identify and implement automation and workflow improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Coordinate and improve multi-currency accounting, reconciliations, and operational finance workflows.
- strengthen finance processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Act as a key escalation point for operational finance matters.
- Assist with audit preparation and external reporting requirements as needed.
- Lead staff technology onboarding.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in Business or Commerce. MBA considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years in information security, IT, or related roles.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting and finance.
- Experience with IT operations, systems administration, or a related role in a cloud-based IT environment.
- CPA designation (or in progress) preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong interest in process improvement, automation, and leveraging modern technologies and AI tools to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills - able to manage multiple operational initiatives independently.
- Experience with multi-currency and foreign exchange transactions.
- Ability to maintain a level of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ambition to thrive in a fast-paced environment under own initiative.
- Post-secondary degree required (equivalent professional experience will be considered).

This position will be located at ISCT Head Office in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. Candidates must be able to legally work full time in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, work permit, etc.).
