Full job description

SUMMARY:

This position involves assistance to the Quality Department to ensure that the company meets client, regulatory, and statutory requirements, and improving the quality of our products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Calibration technician to ensure that precision measurement devices, such as Vernier’s, Micrometers, Height gauges, Bore gauges, thread gauges etc. are accurate and reliable according to industry standards.
Perform minor mechanical adjustments to bring tools back within acceptable tolerance ranges.
Maintain all the calibration records on Gage Track, including calibration certificates, data sheets and logs of all
tests performed.
Ensure all activities meet regulatory requirements such as ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO 9001.
Manage the calibration schedule, including tracking, scheduling and preparing instruments for external calibration.
Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Post-secondary education in Engineering or similar
Minimum two (2) years of experience working as a Calibration Technician or Quality Inspector
Gage track experience is an asset
Able to work with minimum supervision
Experience using quality engineering techniques/tools related to inspection processes
Experience using Microsoft Office

SKILLS/COMPENTENCIES

Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Methodical and organized with a clear attention to detail
Good time management skills
Analytical and critical thinking skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, acetone, alcohol, oil-based lubricants and cleaning solutions
Occasionally exposed to moderate cold and extreme heat.
Constant exposure to noise.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
Must be able to communicate verbally and have the ability to hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or crouch.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

Must be able to work afternoons.
Required to work long hours, and be available on weekends.
