The AMA is recruiting for the position of Manager, Technology and Support Services. As a member of the Information Systems Group team, the Manager, Technology and Support Services will play a critical role in ensuring that AMA initiatives are supported through leadership and technical competency.

The AMA has a hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will be based out of our Edmonton or Calgary office and will have the opportunity to work from home but will be required to go into the office or attend in person when required. Local travel to AMA’s satellite locations and occasional travel to the Southern Alberta Office in Calgary is required.
Team Overview
The Information Systems Group (ISG) department is committed to supporting the organization’s strategic direction through the provision of services encompassing all aspects of information management. The IT function is organized across five key pillars:
- Business Information Systems
- Member Engagement (web/cloud services)
- Business Insight
- Technology Infrastructure and Support
- Security and Risk Management
The Manager, Technology and Support Services will lead the delivery of enterprise technology services, including infrastructure, security, digital workplace tools, and virtual workforce solutions, while driving a portfolio of projects that support organizational priorities; it also builds and develops a high-performing team, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and ensures strong stakeholder engagement to enable effective, secure, and modern ways of working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of IT professionals to deliver high-quality business solutions each day.
- Ensure that the team receives effective management, guidance, and mentorship.
- Promote a culture of openness and trust where team members feel engaged and inspired.
- Lead the day-to-day security operations.
- Manage 3rd-party security partners and vendors.
- Ensure ongoing assessments occur to assess strengths and weaknesses in the overall security posture.
- Lead the technology rollout of business-enabling services that support the emerging virtual hybrid workforce. (eLearning, Virtual Meetings, eNewsletters, Surveys, Brainstorming, Collaborative Spaces, etc.). Mobilize and manage resources accordingly.
- Engage business leaders, members, and vendors in bringing practical solutions to bear that support the hybrid model. Operationalize these services and where possible, develop competencies within the business lines to enable self-support.
- Provide a key leadership role in shaping and guiding the organization’s position between on-premises versus cloud-centric approaches, paying careful attention to cost containment and overall organizational benefit.

2 years post-secondary diploma (equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered).
- 10+ years of experience in the IT Infrastructure/Support domain
- ITIL Certification
- PMP certification considered an asset
- 5+ years of experience leading a team of IT professionals
- Minimum two years IT security experience including techniques and toolsets for assessment and remediation
- Working knowledge of enterprise virtualization, MS server OS, Active Directory, Azure, WAN/LAN/Wifi architectures, and enterprise voice/video solutions.
- 3+ years overseeing ITIL operations management

Demonstrated knowledge of NIST security framework
- Experience leading and managing IT projects in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing vendors and negotiating procurement agreements
- Strong business analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with senior leaders and guide them towards solutions.
- Strong customer service orientation.

The salary for this role is between $101,414 - $131,838 per annum.
