Advanced Mining Professional Services (AMPS) is a global mining technical services consultancy with offices in Canada, the United States, and Australia. Founded in 2011, AMPS specialises in operational engineering, mine surveying, training, and operational improvement, delivering high-quality technical outcomes at mining operations globally.
In North America, AMPS partners with leading specialist providers to deliver mine surveying services to underground & open pit operations. This role sits within that technical delivery framework, embedded directly on site with full backing from AMPS’s global technical team.
The Opportunity
AMPS is seeking an experienced underground mine surveyor to join our growing North American operations. This is a hands-on, production-focused role supporting underground mining clients across Canada and the United States.
You will be embedded with the operation, delivering practical surveying solutions in an environment that values competence, initiative, and professionalism. Strong technical support is available through AMPS’s global team, but you will be trusted to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement in the field.
What We’re Looking For
The following qualifications and experience are required or highly regarded:
Essential:
- Degree in Surveying, Spatial Science, or a related discipline (this is a degree-required role. Advanced Diplomas or equivalent formal qualifications will be considered on merit)
- Minimum 2 years of underground mine surveying experience.
- Minimum 2 years of daily underground production surveying, including face pick‑ups, development set‑out, services as‑built capture, and stope markup, using modern total stations and GNSS‑connected control systems.
- Minimum 12 months of routine use of Deswik (or equivalent underground survey software) for processing, validating, and producing underground survey deliverables, including plan updates and production reporting.
- Demonstrated experience conducting regular check surveys and least‑squares adjustments over a period of at least 12 months, including multiple gyroscopic surveys used for underground control orientation and QA/QC validation.
- Experience completing underground void scans for a period of at least 12 months using autonomous or semi‑autonomous scanning systems, including field execution and processing of scan data into survey‑ready deliverables.
- Experience completing multiple aerial mapping surveys with processing to final deliverables, including point clouds, orthophotos, and surface models, for operational or reporting use.
- Experience completing monthly survey reconciliation and reporting over a period of at least 12 months, including production figures and reconciliation against mine plans.
- Demonstrated experience working unsupervised underground on active production sites for extended periods, managing daily survey priorities and deliverables without direct on‑site supervision.
- English is required for this role. Additional language skills, particularly French and Spanish, are highly regarded and will be considered an asset.

- Holds a relevant surveying degree and is ready to apply that foundation in a demanding operational environment
- Is open to working across multiple sites and jurisdictions within North America
