We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Packaging Team Lead to provide day-to-day leadership within our Packaging Department. Position Summary The Packaging Team Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the Packaging Department while providing direct leadership and support to Packaging Associates. This role ensures production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Health Canada regulations, company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality standards. The successful candidate is an organized and proactive leader who leads by example, promotes a positive workplace culture, and is committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Leadership Lead, coach, mentor, and support Packaging Associates throughout daily operations. Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment. Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate production priorities, safety topics, and operational updates. Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to support employee development. Monitor productivity, attendance, and overall team performance. Assist the Production Manager with scheduling and labour allocation. Promote strong communication and collaboration across Packaging, Production, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments. Packaging Operations Coordinate daily packaging activities to meet production schedules and customer demand. Ensure packaging lines are properly prepared and operating efficiently. Monitor productivity, downtime, labour utilization, and line performance. Identify operational issues and implement timely corrective actions. Verify packaging materials are available prior to production. Support product changeovers and new product launches. Maintain accurate production records and communicate shift performance to management. Quality & Regulatory Compliance Ensure all packaging activities comply with the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, Health Canada requirements, Good Production Practices (GPP), and company SOPs. Perform line clearances and in-process quality inspections. Verify product labels, lot numbers, packaging components, and finished product specifications. Complete and review batch production records and packaging documentation. Escalate deviations, quality concerns, and non-conformances promptly. Support internal audits and regulatory inspections. Maintain Good Documentation Practices (GDP) at all times. Inventory & Material Control Ensure accurate reconciliation of cannabis, packaging materials, and finished goods. Complete ERP inventory transactions accurately and on time. Assist with inventory counts and investigations. Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure packaging materials are available when required. Minimize waste while maximizing efficiency and product quality. Health & Safety Lead by example in promoting a safe workplace. Ensure all employees follow Health & Safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment. Participate in workplace inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions. Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and employee engagement. Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation. Assist with the development and revision of SOPs and Work Instructions. Encourage innovation and continuous improvement throughout the department. Qualifications Required Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceutical, cannabis, or similarly regulated production environment. Minimum 1 year of experience in a Team Lead, Lead Hand, or other leadership role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment. Preferred Previous experience in the cannabis industry. Knowledge of Health Canada Cannabis Regulations and Good Production Practices (GPP). Experience with ERP or inventory management systems. Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Continuous Improvement experience. Forklift certification is considered an asset.
