We are actively seeking motivated, reliable, and hardworking individuals to join our Municipal Division as Labourer/Flagger for the 2026 season. What is the role?
Labourer
- Ability to operate shovels and small hand tool
- Assist skilled trades people and perform a wide range of tasks at construction sites
- Loading, unloading, identifying, and distributing materials and equipment
- Cleaning and preparation of construction sites
- Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed
Flagger
- Using hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road construction sites
- Communicating with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane
- Informing the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety
- Appropriately positioning warning and detour signs around construction sites
- Setting up barricades and traffic cones along construction sites to cordon off certain areas
- Removing all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work
- Assisting the construction crew in the removal of rubble, debris, and hazardous materials
- Recording the license plate numbers of motorists who neglect to obey traffic signs and directions
- Other duties as assigned
What do we value?
Labourer
- Minimum of 2 years of labour experience; preferably road base experience
- Minimum Class 5 license required
- Take direction and can execute the work with limited supervision
- Overtime and weekend work is required
- Successful candidates must be able to meet pre-employment testing requirements
Flagger
- Class 5 Drivers license with a clean driving record
- Experience in either Traffic Control or Construction industries is an asset
- Traffic Control Training Certification preferred
- Sound knowledge of traffic regulations
- Able to stand for extended period in harsh weather conditions
- Team player
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional observation skills
- Effective communication skills
