The Opportunity

Northern Gold Foods is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of healthy great tasting breakfast and snack food products. With roots dating back to 1978, Northern Gold Foods has production facilities located in British Columbia, Ontario, and Oregon.

We are seeking a Process Development Technician to bridge the gap between product development and full-scale production at our Facility in Welland, Ontario, where we produce protein bars, energy bars, granola and other snack products.

This role plays a critical role in taking R&D projects to full production scale. Duties include conducting plant trials, optimizing production efficiency and writing technical specifications for new or improved food products. Collaboration is key. Working closely with production teams, sales departments, and suppliers to bring new products from concept to launch.

Who You are

You bring a strong floor presence, attention to the small details, and ability to document and report trial findings. Daily optimization of food manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and consistency during large-scale production.

Key Responsibilities:

· Organizes and executes facility-scale trials, moving products from R&D bench top work to high volume manufacturing.

· Gather relevant information from trials including recipe amends, process parameters, line speeds, weights, settings, labor, washouts

· Monitoring process controls compliance during plant trials and production start-ups. I.E. Aw, weights, temperatures, sensory

· Process optimization identifies and implements methods to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness of food manufacturing lines

· Organize trial ingredients and site contact for trial readiness

· Technical Documentation: Prepares facility specifications and trial reports to facilitate smooth product launches.

· Organize process trials, ensure objectives are set and communicate to all relevant teams prior to the trials.

· Organize and send post-trial customer samples

· Unsure trial raw materials are stored at the correct time and temperature

· Provide support in first production start-ups in process requirements and operator training

Qualifications:

· 5 plus years of experience in food manufacturing

· Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

· Familiarity with food processing equipment

· Strong problem solving skills

· Robust organization skills

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
