Job Description – Precast concrete engineer / designer
Elements Engineering strives to provide clients with services and products that are among the best in the industry. We specialize in design engineering; precast concrete structures, overhead sign structures, modular bridges, noise walls, and traffic management plans.
Elements Engineering is looking to add a Civil Engineer with extensive precast concrete experience. The successful candidate will work out of our Aurora office, joining our existing concrete and structural team. The candidate will be supervised by a senior consulting engineer and industry expert and work with the team members in servicing our precast concrete clients across Canada. You will play a crucial role in servicing our clients by conducting design analysis/calculation, creating detailed drawings and plans for the submission, fabrication and installation of reinforced concrete, precast concrete, and related formwork details in concrete structures. Your precision and expertise will ensure the structural integrity and safety of various projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Technical assessment: Review contract drawing, tender documents, geotechnical reports, client’s requirements and prepare design work plan and budget.
- Design analysis and calculation: Conduct design analysis using finite element software and various design tools, and design calculation according to the codes and standards. Produce a design sketch for detailer.
- Detailing: Conduct drawing review to ensure the deliverables meet the requirements. The candidate shall also able to prepare the drawings AutoCAD when detailing and drawing development using are a constraint.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, contractors, clients and other stakeholders to address design issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure that designs align with the project's structural integrity goals.
- Project Management: Prepare quotations and estimates of potential projects. Manage multiple projects and maintain schedule and cost.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with project teams, providing technical guidance and support to the clients throughout the production and construction process. Address inquiries and provide clarifications on detailed designs as needed.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical and non-technical records. The technical records include but not limited to reports, drawings, key correspondence. Non-technical records includes but not limited to invoices.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve client service, project cycle efficiency and quality by timely and effective communication, maintenance of in-house resource library, development of in-house design aids and templates etc.
Qualifications
- P.Eng. licensed in any of the Canadian provinces (Except Quebec).
- Minimum two years of experience in structural design in reinforced concrete.
- Minimum two years of experience in precast concrete manufacturer as an engineer, engineer-in-training, project coordinator and / or quality control technician.
- Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering.
- Proven experience in engineering and fabrication drawing preparation.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, including AutoCAD, and any 3D modeling CAD software.
- Knowledge of building codes and highway bridge codes, construction material standards, and industry regulations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for calculating quantities.
- Spatial visualization ability.
- Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational, documentation skills.
- Good working attitude.

Pay: $68,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
