The Challenge Ahead

As Principal Product Owner, you will play a critical role in shaping how digital products and solutions deliver value across the Potash business. Operating at a strategic level, you will connect business priorities with technology outcomes, ensuring products are aligned to BHP’s purpose, safety commitments, and long‑term value creation.

This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, sound judgement, and the ability to balance short‑term delivery with long‑term vision in a complex, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end ownership of technology products across their lifecycle, ensuring safety, reliability, and alignment with business needs
Define and execute product strategies and roadmaps to support operational performance and long-term objectives
Use data, insights, and performance metrics to prioritise initiatives and guide decision-making
Translate complex business requirements into clear product outcomes and value propositions
Drive continuous improvement through performance monitoring, benchmarking, and optimisation
Collaborate with operational leaders, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver high-impact solutions
Provide cost, demand, and capacity insights to support investment and portfolio planning
Lead vendor relationships, including contract management and performance oversight
Enhance user experience by improving usability, accessibility, and design outcomes
Influence delivery outcomes across cross-functional teams without direct authority
Promote simplification, standardisation, and reuse of technology solutions

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Tertiary qualification in Technology, Engineering, Business Systems, or a related field (preferred)
Experience with IT service management frameworks and tools (e.g., ServiceNow) (preferred)
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification
Strong experience managing end-to-end product lifecycles within complex technology environments
Proven ability to define product strategies, roadmaps, and performance metrics
Experience working with mining systems, underground communications, or industrial technology infrastructure
Knowledge of agile and waterfall delivery methodologies
Demonstrated ability to analyse data and communicate insights to senior stakeholders
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Experience in vendor and contract management practices
Leadership capability to foster collaboration, accountability, and high performance within teams

Work Location

Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. This position will require regular travel to the Jansen Mine Site.
