We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and strengthen health, safety, and environmental programs across a growing operations-based organization. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, supporting injured worker claims and return-to-work programs, and improving the systems and procedures that keep teams safe and operations running smoothly. This position works closely with leaders across multiple departments to drive training, compliance, certification, hazard prevention, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:
- Lead the organization’s health and safety program and support a strong safety culture across all areas of the business.
- Act as the company representative for regulatory matters, inspections, and investigations.
- Conduct occasional job site visits to ensure workers are following applicable legislation, company procedures, and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with managers and operational leaders to provide practical guidance on compliance and risk reduction.
- Chair the JOHSC meetings, prepare agendas and maintain accurate meeting minutes.
- Support incident investigations, workplace inspections, first aid assessments, training needs, and emergency drills.
- Coach leaders and employees on incident response, reporting, investigation, and corrective action follow-up.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety-related training plans.
- Manage workplace injury claims and related documentation including return-to-work programs.
- Lead the process to obtain, maintain, and renew safety certification programs.
- Coordinate audits, monitor corrective actions, and ensure follow-up items are completed on time.
- Review health and safety systems, procedures/documentation and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work with operations and project teams on health and safety initiatives.
Who You Are:
- Minimum of 3–5+ years of experience in a health and safety role preferably in construction, environmental services, or a related industry.
- Post-secondary education or certification in health & safety, training is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices is required.
- Proven experience working with regulatory bodies i.e (WorkSafe BC), leading incident investigations, workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and corrective action planning.
- Demonstrated experience managing claims and supporting return-to-work programs.
- Experience with COR Certification, audits, and safety program administration.
- Intermediate First Aid (OFA Level 2) and Level 1, 3 or S Asbestos certifications are considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach, influence, and build relationships across all levels of the business.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and follow-through skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable managing reports, forms, training records, and safety documentation.
This position will require the successful candidate to:
- Have and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
- Complete and successfully clear background checks including a criminal record check.
- Attend job sites after hours in the event of an emergency as needed.
