About the position - We are seeking a motivated Junior IT Support specialist to join our technology team at our Manufacturing Plant in Amherst, NS. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in technical support, computer networking, and IT troubleshooting within a dynamic environment. The role involves assisting users with hardware/software issues and maintaining system functionality.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1 and designated Tier 2 IT support to LRL, Liveable Cities, and Evluma staff via the IT Ticketing System, triaging and resolving end-user issues across Microsoft 365, Windows desktop, mobile devices, printing, and network connectivity.
- Provision, deploy, and decommission end-user hardware — laptops, monitors, peripherals, and mobile devices — in coordination with the Systems Administrator.
- Execute user account lifecycle tasks in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, including onboarding, offboarding, and access changes, in alignment with the LRL Cyber Security Policy framework.
- Maintain endpoint compliance and asset records: software updates, patching, hardware inventory, and licence tracking.
- Support Liveable Cities customers with Tier 1 Video Management System (VMS) assistance, including basic Milestone XProtect troubleshooting, account changes, and ticket communication.
- Document recurring issues, common resolutions, and operational procedures; contribute to the IT knowledge base and track all work using the IT Ticketing System.
- Contribute to cross-functional IT projects as assigned, including hardware refresh rollouts, Microsoft 365 changes, security-awareness campaigns, and customer onboardings.
Qualifications:
- Recent graduate (within the last three years) of a post-secondary program in Information Technology, Computer Systems, or a related technical field; or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Resident of Atlantic Canada or willing to relocate to Amherst, Nova Scotia.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID basics) and Windows desktop administration.
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi).
- Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and structured support workflows; Jira Service Management experience an asset.
- Strong customer-service orientation; able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences in clear, professional language.
- Eagerness to learn video management systems (VMS), IP-based video infrastructure, and broader IT operations under mentorship from the VMS Administrator and IT Manager.
- Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and discipline in following documented procedures.
- Comfortable contributing to documentation as part of regular work.
- Must be able to travel as required – typical travel would be between Amherst and Headquarters in Halifax, NS.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Compensation: $45,000 - $50,000 CAD annually
