This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced psychiatric nursing professional to help shape innovative clinical education through simulation, lab instruction, and emerging learning technologies while preparing the next generation of psychiatric nurses. Work with simulation, virtual reality (VR), and emerging educational technologies to create engaging learning experiences that prepare students for real-world clinical practice.
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Health Care Coordinator (SHCC) and in cooperation with the Program Lead (Y1 or Y2), the Psychiatric Nursing Instructor, and LAB and Systems Lead will provide leadership for the Year 1 or Year 2 lab operations, simulation activities, instructor coordination and educational technology integration in alignment with the established learning objectives and outcomes, while operationalizing the North West College Indigenization charter. The position is also responsible for instructing within a designated teaching assignment, promoting the academic success and personal growth of students.

Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Curriculum Delivery: Deliver classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in alignment with Saskatchewan Polytechnic curriculum requirements, learning outcomes, and adult education principles.
- Student Success & Evaluation: Foster an inclusive learning environment, support student development, monitor progress, and implement assessments and evaluation tools.
- Lab Operations & Coordination: Lead the planning, scheduling, and coordination of lab instruction, instructor assignments, and lab activities for Year 1 or Year 2.
- Simulation & Learning Systems Leadership: Serve as the primary resource for lab instructors, supporting simulation, virtual reality (VR), and lab-related learning management systems.
- Program Quality & Compliance: Monitor program quality and support alignment with curriculum standards, adult education principles, and College policies and procedures.
- Resource & Staffing Support: Collaborate with College leadership to identify staffing needs, coordinate instructional resources, and support efficient program delivery.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Work closely with the Senior Health Care Coordinator, Program Lead, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, and fellow instructors to support student success and program excellence.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education & Professional Registration: Undergraduate degree in Nursing and approval from Saskatchewan Polytechnic to teach in the program. Preference will be given to candidates registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS) or the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS). A relevant master’s degree, or willingness to pursue one, is preferred.
- Clinical & Instructional Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent and relevant psychiatric nursing practice and/or instructional experience.
- Adult Education Expertise: Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional methodologies, curriculum delivery, student assessment, and evaluation practices.
- Technical & Organizational Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, Outlook, learning management systems, and educational technologies, with strong planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
- Additional Requirements: Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, willingness to travel as required, and the ability to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
Compensation:
- Competitive Salary: Total compensation (base plus a market stipend of $15,000) ranging from $82,660.00 – $117,684.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
