Under the supervision of the Vice President of the Civil Operations, the Project Director is fully responsible for all the proposals he will be involved with, with or without the assistance of a project manager.
The Project Director plans, directs, organizes, coordinates and controls, alone or with project managers, the execution of one or more construction projects simultaneously.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the preparation of bids and the execution of projects. The signing of tenders is the responsibility of the assigned Vice-President;
- Negotiate agreements with subcontractors, sign letters of intent after discussion with the vice president, verify agreements with subcontractors and sign them (for subcontracts valued at less than $1 million);

In collaboration with project managers and superintendents, ensure that the work carried out meets the standards and the objectives set for quality, safety and relations in the work, quantity, deadlines and costs and take the necessary corrective action when required;

When required, assist the vice president in negotiating customer contract terms;

Monthly verification and discussion with project managers of all cost controls under his/her supervision and reporting to the vice president;

Assign staff to work sites, in accordance with the policies of the human resources department (salaries must be approved by the human resources director) and monitor the productivity of resources under his/her responsibility as well as operating costs;

Ensure customer satisfaction with a concern for safety, costs, schedule and quality of work;

Ensure the application of and compliance with the EBC health and safety estimate and site specific H&S programs for each project;

Ensure compliance with the company's QA/QC system in accordance with the appropriate ISO standard;

Follow up on ISO procedures with operational staff. Responsible for site kick-off meetings, periodic reviews, post-mortems and participation in planning reviews;

Discuss legal or litigation issues with the vice president, and ensure documentation;

Perform all other tasks required for the execution of his / her mandate;

Evaluate personnel under his/her responsibility according to company policies;

Mentoring employees when in office;

Working on estimates in office when not onsite.

University Degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience;
- 15+ years’ experience in the construction industry;
-
PENG designation;
-
Previous civil construction experience specifically in experience in structures and MTO work.

A proven track record of project success and team leadership;

Good knowledge in geology and geotechnical;

Strong experience delivering large scale projects within a partnership environment;

Strong experience with alternative delivery mode projects (Design Build, P3);

Strong knowledge of financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislation;

Good computer skills and previous experience with scheduling software;

This position is located in the Greater Toronto Area, and the ability to work throughout Ontario may be required;

Candidate must be mobile and flexible to travel as required.
