Hiring A Web Developer (In-Office Role, NOT Remote)

Brixwork Real Estate Marketing Inc. provides boutique marketing services for the real estate industry in both Canada and the USA. We are looking for a well-rounded web developer to build and deploy custom designed websites and modern React/NextJS web apps. This role would suit somebody who is keen to work in a focused and fast-paced environment with frequent collaboration with the team, and understands how to deliver functional web applications that everyday humans will want to use.
The chosen candidate will be working out of our Gastown studio in Downtown Vancouver. Overseas contractors need not apply, as this is an in-house role for tight collaboration. We have a very social and close-knit work culture that is best-suited for in-office work. This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week of work.
Your Roles & Duties:
- Front-End Development: Transform approved visual drafts from Figma, using design systems and AI-powered workflow, into functional and mobile-ready web pages.
- Back-End and Tech Stack: Architect, develop and deploy new features on our CMS as well as custom web-apps using Claude code and other modern systems for various projects.
- Tech Support and Security: Investigate issues and security threats on our client websites running on our SaaS CMS, as well as on custom-built websites, to keep things running smoothly.
- Lead and Collaborate: Make decisions and provide guidance for junior devs & designers who will look to an experienced web developer for mentorship and guidance.
To succeed in this position:
- Be proficient in front-end languages such as HTML, CSS/SASS and Javascript.
- Be proficient with back-end systems such as PHP, Node or Python,
- Be familiar with full-stack frameworks such as React/NextJS as well as Cloud and VPS setups.
- Familiar with managing web servers using SSH (basic CLI commands).
- Familiar with AI-powered development workflows (Claude code, Augment or Cursor).
- Experienced in collaborating with designers, managers and stakeholders for a human-ready web experience.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset - resourcefulness is more important than code syntax memorization.
- While you won’t design anything yourself, having a basic understanding of the core principles of graphic design and UI/UX principles is a huge bonus.
- Organizational skills and the ability to handle being under pressure of deadlines.
- Comfortable in a Mac OS environment (we have an Apple ecosystem).
Experience & Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years in a web development role or equivalent.
- Customer service and teamwork experience in any industry (non-tech).
- Able to commute to our Gastown studio (Downtown Vancouver).
- Legally able to work in Canada.
- A great portfolio of projects live or on Github.
