Role Summary:
Our Calgary office is seeking a skilled and driven Fire Sprinkler Deficiency Estimator & Project Manager to join our team. This hybrid role is responsible for identifying, quoting, and securing sprinkler deficiency work, while also managing awarded projects from initiation through to completion.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients to assess system deficiencies, develop compliant solutions, prepare accurate proposals, and oversee execution to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role serves as the primary point of contact for both clients and internal teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Deficiency Quoting, Sales & Client Development:
- Focus on sales within our existing and/or assigned customer accounts.
- Review inspection reports and site conditions to identify sprinkler system deficiencies and required repairs or upgrades.
- Conduct site visits to assess deficiencies and determine scope of work.
- Collaborate with clients to develop compliant, cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare detailed estimates, proposals, and quotations for deficiency repairs, system upgrades, and small projects.
- Follow up on proposals and close sales opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional sectors.
- Perform job setup, identify, and order materials needed for jobs, and coordinate with the Service Coordinator to schedule work.
Project Planning & Coordination:
- Develop project plans including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, service teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless execution.
- Organize project kickoffs and establish clear expectations with all stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards (NFPA, Building Code, Electrical Code, CAN/ULC).
Project Execution & Oversight:
- Manage and supervise project teams, including technicians and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress and proactively resolve issues to maintain timelines and quality.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and safety requirements.
Budget & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, including tracking costs and margins.
- Handle change orders, approvals, and project financial documentation.
- Ensure projects meet financial targets and profitability goals.
Client Communication & Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout quoting and project execution.
- Provide regular updates, address concerns, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Prepare project reports, documentation, and close-out packages.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds company and industry quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
- Complete final inspections, deficiencies, and project closeouts.
Risk & Safety Management:
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
Other duties as required.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of experience in fire protection, sprinkler service, estimating, or project management.
- Experience quoting and managing sprinkler deficiency work is strongly preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Construction Management, or a technical field is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, codes, and standards (NFPA, IFC, Building Code, CAN/ULC).
- Proven ability to estimate, price, and manage service and small to mid-sized projects.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and margins.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Valid driver’s license required.
