Full job description

Reporting to the Director of Operations North Eastern British Columbia the Logistics Manager will plan, organize, direct, manage, evaluate, and is responsible for the operations and budget of departments or companies involved in supply chain services including customer service, warehousing, inventory control, transportation, materials handling, and strategic planning. This position includes the identification of opportunities for logistics operation improvements.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategically plan and manage logistics, yard/shop, transportation and customer services
Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers
Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
Arrange yard/shop, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
Resolve any arising problems or complaints
Supervise, coach and train yard/shop workforce
Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements??

Duties and responsibilities:

Coordinating manpower with job supervisors and the union
Working with the ISSLP Receptionist to ensure travel and hotel arrangements are made for the union workforce
Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers
Keeping track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
Arranging yard/shop, cataloging goods, planning routes, and processing shipments
Resolving any arising problems or complaints within your job description
Inventory management: including Scaffold Equipment, Environmental Containment (Shrink-wrap), Supplies, Safety Equipment and Promotional Stock
Supervising, coaching, and training the yard/shop workforce
Strategically planning and managing logistics, yard/shop, and transportation
Coordinating all loading and unloading of trucks
Negotiating costs on trucking and dispatching trucking
Maintaining metrics and analyzing data to assess performance and implement improvements
Maintaining Vehicles, Trailers, Office Trailers, SeaCans, Forklifts and Skid Steers
Approves the online orientation for ISSLP new field employees
Assuring that all paperwork (receipts, inventory reports, etc.) are provided to the appropriate department.

Qualifications:

● Minimum of five years’ experience in Logistics role. Several years of progressively responsible experience in logistics are usually required, including supervisory experience. Extensive experience as a supervisor may substitute for formal education.

● Completion of a college or university program in business administration, transportation administration, or engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and supply chain experience. A Graduate school background and international experience are considered assets.

● A Logistics Manager should have the following skill sets: coordination, active listening, critical thinking, reading comprehension, writing, monitoring, service orientation, time management, judgment and decision making and active learning.

● Intermediate computer skills (e.g. MS Office including Excel and Word)

● Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external.

● Flexible to change and open to constructive feedback

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

● Proven leadership capabilities

● Self-starting, team player willing to work collaboratively towards achieving the strategic goals of the company

Working conditions:

Office environment, working to deadlines, some high stress situations (i.e. collections and meeting deadlines)

Physical requirements:

May be required to work long hours or weekends on occasion to support

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
