Cleaver-Brooks Canada Packaged Boiler Systems, a leading manufacturer of boilers and energy recovery systems, has an opening for a Industrial Welding Trainer at their Stratford Ontario facility at 161 Lorne Ave., W, Stratford ON. Flexibility to workdays, afternoons and weekend shifts dependent upon the required need.
The Industrial Weld Trainer is responsible for developing the skills and qualifications of welding personnel through hands-on and classroom training while providing technical support to fabrication operations. This position administers welder qualification programs, supports on-the-job training, develops and maintains training materials, and helps ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Human Resources, the Weld Trainer plays an important role in maintaining a skilled workforce, supporting product quality, and promoting safe and efficient manufacturing practices.
Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000 CAD per year

Essential Duties:
Training & Workforce Development
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver classroom and hands-on welding training programs for new and existing employees.
- Create structured training plans, job rotations, and development pathways to support employee progression and skill advancement.
- Administer practical welding assessments and pre-employment welding evaluations.
- Coordinate and support apprenticeship programs in accordance with applicable Ontario apprenticeship standards.
- Monitor trainee progress and provide coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback.
- Conduct welder performance evaluations and recommend progression opportunities.
- Assist with the orientation and onboarding of new fabrication employees.
- Maintain training records, qualification records, skill matrices, and associated reports.
Welder Qualification & Compliance
- Administer and coordinate welder qualification testing in accordance with ASME Section IX and company requirements.
- Maintain welder qualification continuity and certification records.
- Ensure welding personnel are trained and qualified to applicable welding procedures and code requirements.
- Support audits and customer inquiries related to welder qualifications and training programs.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of welding procedures, standards, and work instructions.
Technical Support & Manufacturing Assistance
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for welding and fabrication operations.
- Assist manufacturing teams in identifying root causes of welding-related quality and productivity issues.
- Support implementation of new welding equipment and welding technologies.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality departments to improve welding processes and production efficiency.
- Provide guidance on welding processes including GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SMAW and SAW.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Promote compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Participate in weld quality investigations, corrective actions, and process improvement activities.
- Analyze training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on production performance and quality data.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, craftsmanship, and continuous learning throughout the fabrication department.

Education:
- Welding Engineering Technology, Welding Technician, Industrial Trades, or related technical diploma preferred.
- Certified Welder qualification in accordance with ASME Section IX
- Journeyperson Welder (Red Seal) preferred.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), CSA Welding Inspector, or equivalent certification considered an asset.
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, and evaluating welders.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section I, Section IV, Section VIII, and Section IX requirements.
- Experience administering welder qualification programs and maintaining qualification records.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, fabrication drawings, and welding procedures.
- Experience with welding procedure qualification, welding procedure specifications (WPSs), and work instructions.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience supporting automated and mechanized welding systems is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and training database systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and develop employees at all skill levels.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:
- Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Flexibility to workdays, afternoons and weekend shifts dependent upon the required need
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Possess good hand-eye coordination.
- Able to bend, squat, twist, and kneel.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools
- Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils.
- Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, hard hats and fall protection.
